I will get Flamed for this but Howard

Post#1 » by Shishnizzle » Thu Jan 31, 2008 11:47 pm

Our team disrespected the Heat so bad that they did'nt feel it was necessary to actually try until the 4th quarter so SVG could'nt play JJ. Howard spent most of the 1st 2 quarters laughing. He did'nt get mad until he felt he was'nt getting his touches, but it was funny that the fans paid money to watch him play and he did'nt car about that. Sure he got his numbers but his approach to the game was terrible, and a nat could have slapped the ball out of his hands. He must not have alot of strength in his hands. Also he seems to be getting that arrogant all star attitude lately. I know the bible say's something about pride. Like Pride comes before a fall, but I think Howard may be straying from those princaples a little. I know nobody is perfect but I think the super stardom may be making his head a little big, but hey I'm not a christian so what does it matter.

Sorry, not seeing any of that. Given the standard in the nba, I think Dwight is doing fine keeping his ego in check.

i kinda agree with you, i remember in his first couple of years, if he didnt get the ball he had to work hard on the boards or move in the lane as guokas always says to make himself available just so that he can affect the game in other areas besides scoring and stuff...

but the thing is you're not allowed to criticize him here or else you get killed and your called not a fan and stuff...
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

I don't think that he is getting arrogant at all. He just approaches the game a bit differently than he used to. I have noticed that he doesn't take crap anymore and he shows more emotion. We should have known that an 18 year old's approach to the game would change with age. As for the Heat game, I am mum on that subject because I did not get to watch it. As for him straying from his principles, I am not one to talk so I will let God judge him on that. All he has to do in my book is get us wins because his character is none of my business. I am just glad that management finally got something right by drafting him instead of Meka.

I see that in his interviews but not in the way he approaches the game. When he is out there laghing it up and we are playing bad. It makes it look like he does'nt care and it looks like he is disrespecting his opponent and that is'nt cool. That is what i saw in the Miami game, and I have seen him hang his head on other occasions when he was'nt getting his touches, but we are small so we need everything out of him. He is a great player though and over all I am happy to have him.

overall dwight just didn't have a "good" month in january. nothing to get down on and say he is "disrespecting" his opponents. despite winning and losing dwight has always laughed at moments. you make it sound like he is running up and down the court laughing arrongantly or joking around even when were are losing. i highly doubt howard doesn't care.

I just wish Dwight had a killer instinct and demanded the ball rather than pouting, at times.

I don't think it had a thing to do with his touches. The entire team came out playing kind of lackadaisical, and he was moving kind of slow right from the get-go. You're looking for trouble that isn't there in that respect.

However, it is a concern that the team didn't really take the game all that seriously last night until they had to. I had to laugh when Van Gundy started talking about it being good that the team will be going out on the road again after playing all of two games at home. Sometimes, though, I think they do get kind of comfortable being at home. I don't mean playing at home -- I mean being at their homes.

But if they go into Philly on Friday like they played Wednesday against the Heat, I would expect them to find trouble.

I am of the mind set that this is their job. I would not like a lot of goofy off when work should be done. Save the jokes for when we are ahead by 30 against a team like Miami. Otherwise it will bite you in the ass. I was not happy until our 18-1 run in the forth, the problem, this should have happen in the second or third quarter.
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...

One thing I HATE is the fact when players laugh when their team is losing the game. That's something I can't tolerate. Laughing, making jokes when you're winning I can understand, but when your team is gettin' some @sswhoopin', laughin' about it is pathetic.

That's funny as hell. The flamer no homo. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but I guess I am old school. I want the players to take these games serious and I have noticed Howard hanging his head when he is'nt getting touches. We need everything from him to win. He was getting the ball slapped out of his hands by Jason Williams. He has to hang on to the ball better, and when he does'nt get his touches he has to dominate every where else because he is our defense, and he is our rebounding and it is'nt about individual stats. Anyway I have noticed a little arrogance lately, and he is young but there is a difference between arrogance and confidence. I really don't care what anyone thinks so flame away.

Have you ever considered that there are times he does this when he thinks he was fouled and the official didn't call anything, and he's smiling instead of complaining about it? I can promise you that happens sometimes because I have seen it. It's a way of disagreeing -- but not being disagreeable.

Also, the Cavaliers lost to the Sonics tonight. LeBron didn't play, and he was laughing on the bench. You going to criticize him, too?

Look, these are young guys. They play a game for a living. Yes, it's their job, but they are not robots with no emotions. They are humans. They are not going to out there every night, never make any mistakes, always give 100%, play perfect basketball, take everything serious as a heart attack.

You do that in your job Numero? Never make mistakes? Make the perfect decision every time? Never get emotional? Never give anything less than 100%? If so, congratulations. You're the first perfect employee (or business owner) in history.

Sorry but I notice it too. What happened to the professionals that hated to lose? Why is the NBA infested with players who are never satisfied, that give up, or laugh when their asses are being handed to them? What ever happened to competition where losing was a disgrace and embarrassment?
