DEN-PHX-SAC Trade

Post#1 » by Sun Scorched » Thu Jan 31, 2008 9:36 pm

Hey guys, Suns fan here. I was just curious as to what you guys thought about this trade. Especially in terms of fairness to you guys.

Nuggets
Incoming
Shawn Marion
John Salmons
Outgoing
DEN 1st
Marcus Camby
Eduardo Najera
Anthony Carter/Von Wafer

Why for the Nuggets? This would have to wait until Nene and Martin were playing well enough to fill the void left by Camby... but forgetting that for a moment. Iverson-Anthony-Marion? Granted thats the highest paid anything ever assembled... ever. But it could work. Plus Salmons is a strong asset, he finsihes well and hustles.

Kings
Incoming
ATL 1st, DEN 1st
Boris Diaw
Eduardo Najera
Anthony Carter/Von Wafer
Outgoing
Ron Artest
John Salmons

Why for the Kings? They have already talked about trading Artest. This solves that. They recieve 2 first rounders (I think that gives you guys four first rounders... trade up? I think so) and about 6 million in expiring contracts. (AC and Von Wafer are interchangeable here) Diaw's contract is large, but he can run an offense and is one of the best low-post passers there is.

Suns
Incoming
Ron Artest
Marcus Camby
Outgoing
ATL 1st
Boris Diaw
Shawn Marion

Why for the Suns? They lack defense and reboudning. This solves that. They could use someone with a mean streak like Artest, plus he can shoot the trey - important in PHX. Camby is the rebounding presence they so desperately need. Essentially for PHX, this is Diaw for Artest and Marion for Camby straight up.

Camby is playing out of his mind this year.
Carter is doing a decent job and we don't have a lot of options at that spot.
Marion and Carmelo are both really 3's.

And on top of that Denver gives up a 1st for players they don't really need.

No way I'd do that.

Marion wouldn't fit if that trade happen, we get no Center now, but we have 2 guys that play at 3 who are starters, you need to check the potential starting line ups before you make a trade ;)

If the Kings trade Artest, it will because they want to start Salmons at SF. While this is pretty good value for Artest + Salmons, I would rather keep Salmons and get rid of KT with Artest.

are you serious? yeah we get marion, which would be cool, but wouldn't fit well with this team. and we give up our starting C and PG, along with one of our most valuable bench player? i just don't get how that makes any sense for the nuggets.

I dont like this idea.. Marion for camby swap doesnt make that big of a difference to allow the financial hit we will have to take by taking his contract.

No way, maybe take out the first and give one to us for taking such a contract.

Talk about overvaluing Marion...

So wait the Nuggets give up Camby and our first rounder and we get two wing players. But the Kings give up Artest and they get the Hawks first rounder and the Nuggets first rounder?

Terrible trade for the Nuggets.

Considering Nene will be gone for the season, and the next season he'll play about 5 games and then get another injury, I say bring on Hunter

I'd like to see what he could do. He may not have earned minutes, but he's taking up someone else's bench spot.
