Nets trade Kidd, Magloire and Allen for LaFrentz, Frye, Jack, George, Diop, Mavs' 1st round pick and two 2nd round picks from Portland in the 2008 draft (Knicks and Memphis)
Blazers trade LaFrentz, Frye, Jack and two 2nd round picks for Harris, Stackhouse, Magloire and Bass
Dallas trade Harris, Stackhouse, Diop, Bass, George and their 1st round pick in the 2008 draft for Kidd and Allen.
Nets waive Diop, trade newly-created TE to Portland for Rodriguez. Diop resigns with Dallas.
Why it works for the Nets:
They get a nearly expiring contract in Raef, along with Collins/Swift coming off the books in summer 2009 they should have some cap space.
They get 3 young prospects and 3 extra picks in the deep 2008 draft, moving somewhere between 25 to 40. Could use some of them to move up from their own lottery pick. Or just draft Hibbert, Rush and two foreign prospects.
Sergio would duke it out with Marcus Williams to see which one can fill Kidd's shoes at PG. Jack is a good scoring combo guard off the bench. Frye could form a good bigmen tandem with Sean Williams, and take over Krstic role, assuming he wont return to his former condition.
Why it works for Dallas:
They upgrade from Harris to Kidd at the cost of Stackhouse, Bass and a late 1st round pick. They'll get Diop back and remain deep. Allen is a good post defender with a nice mid range jumper.
Kidd/Terry/Barea
Hassell/Terry/Ager
Howard/Jones/Hassell
Nowitzky/Allen/Howard
Dampier/Diop/Allen
Why it works for us:
We get to keep Outlaw and Webster and still get Harris. In return, we absorb Stackhouse's contract while giving away a big, soon to be expiring contract in Raef. We trade 3 role players who may not have a place in next year's rotation, and two of our three 2nd round picks in the coming draft. Magloire is expiring and would help our rebounding issues this season, same goes for Bass who might be a keeper. Stackhouse makes up for Jacks' scoring abilities off the bench, but could be traded later on to make room for Fernandez. Maybe to the Cavs for Jones.
Harris/Blake/Jones
Roy/Rudy/Jones
Webster/Outlaw/JJ
LMA/Outlaw/Bass
Oden/Przybilla/LMA
I assume all of us here would be more than OK with this deal...do you think NJ gets enough, or would we need to add our 1st round pick, maybe with some protection?

Why not for Dallas? it's the rumored deal and the only possible package. Take out the 1st rounder?
it was not the rumored deal
the mavs were sending Stackhouse and George to NJ and Harris to portland. Bass was maybe or maybe not going anywhere.
In return the nets would send Kidd, Allen, and magloire to Dallas.
Diop wasn't mentioned, and the fact is, to make and complete the trade along with everybody on all teams passing physicals, negotiate the terms of the buyout, complete the buyout, waive Diop and then wait for Diop to clear waivers all before the 1st of march is almost impossible. And if it wasn't done before that Diop couldn't be on Dallas's playoff roster.
So basically, you have them trading Harris, Stackhouse, Bass, Diop, George, and a 1st round pick for Kidd and Allen.
No way dallas does this exactly like i said, and Rod Thorn's wet dreams really need to stop being publicised.
