I really don't understand this for Memphis. Collins' contract expires at the same time, he makes slightly more per year, and he's a significantly crappier player. I know that Swift isn't getting along well in Memphis, but they're really willing to take th short end of the stick on all fronts?

First of all what do we have that Memphis wants? Nothing outside Calderon/Parker/Bosh or Bargnani and I wouldn't move any of those guys for Swift.

2nd where would he play? We have Humphries and Bosh at the 4 and Rasho and Bargnani at the 5 so there wouldn't be alot of room for him. Sorry but Toronto dosn't need Stromile Swift he's not the anwser here.

The only "answer" that Stromile Swift is to the question who is one of the all time dud 2nd overall picks in NBA history ... Stromile Swift goes down with Ryan Leaf as one of the worst 2nd selections in any sport

Who still will struggle to fight for the 8th seed simply because a below .500 record is good enough to make the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Raptors "who Colangelo is doing nothing, OMG he sucks" has his team competing for their second straight top 4 finish in the conference.

I think this move helps the Raps.

Jason Collins guards Bosh as well as anybody.

I wish we can get Mike Miller from Memphis :( :( :( :(

Calderon
Parker
Miller
Bosh
Bargnani

Then when Ford returns...

Calderon/Ford
Parker/Delfino
Miller/Moon
Bosh/Humphries
Bargnani/Rasho

One can pray?

Let me see. Stromile Swift was the last draft pick of the Vancouver Grizzlies. He was the youngest guy on the roster playing in Vancity. The guy loved Vancouver and was very humble to play in Canada. There is something called respect and dignity. He did those things.

Don't forget he is one of the dumbest and laziest players in the league. You can't put a dollar figure on intangibles like that.

Waiting in the Weeds

Post#70 » by Purple Forever » Fri Feb 1, 2008 8:28 pm

That's right, BC is wating in the weeds for a bargain.

Fact we need a starting quality 3 who can rebound.

Fact there are a pile coming into restricted free agency this offseason - Josh Smith, Childress, Iggy, Deng, Maggette (unrestricted), Jameson (unrestricted), Artest (unrestricted).

So this offseason BC will be sitting on a 9 MM expiring deal, so cheap young guys (Hump, Kapono, Delfino) and two tradeable first round picks.

He will be able to manufacture a sign and trade for one of these guys with that package. He might even be able to use some of this to get it done at this deadline.

For proof of what this type of package can bring - see Gasol to the Lakers.

Relax, our big year is next year, not this season

I think BC should make a pitch for Navarro as he may be willing to leave.

What is up with Colangelo lately?

Edited so people know what the topic is actually about - M.

As long as he's not trying to accquire suck-tastic losers like Stromile Swift and Jason Collins, then I'm not too worried about what he's doing...

I'm sure I'm late on this but what does Stromile Swift bring to this team? He's basically a disappointment whereever he's played. Humphries brings more than he does and is already on the team.

Why is Colangelo sleeping or doing a poor job when Stromile doesn't really add anything to the team and Gasol doesn't really fit with our direction either?

You are really annoying. Colangelo made this team good. That's all that matters. You'll eat your words.

How haven't you blocked that guy yet?

I'm surprised that BC didn't do anything. Did he even know Stromile was on the trading block. It's not like he will be the missing piece we are looking for but c'mon, the nets got him for practically nothing. Jason Collins and Jamaal Maglore are competing for least efficient player in the NBA.... If they took jason collins they probably would of taken atleast graham, baston or dixon for swift.... compared to those 3, i'd say swift is a significant upgrade

Garbo and Ford had serious injuries and might not be the same. Garbo was good but you never know.

Mike Miller would be a nice pickup but we would be overrun and have to move Kopono cause I don't see room for Moon/Kopono/Miller/Delfino/Dixon/Garbojasa/Graham/Parker where would we play them? I know Graham and Dixon are going to be cut and sent elsewhere but other then that where would MM fit unless we move some glut

Wow - only $7MM a season for a C averaging 6.8PPG and under 4RPG, this guy is a BARGOON!!! He is putting up Humphries numbers on a TJ Ford Budget, go get him!!! He is the 5th leading scorer and 9th in rebounds on his team!!! And he will make the highlight reel from time to time to boot!!!

Colangelo is the worst Fantasy Basketball GM ever, am I right!!???
