Gasol to the Lakers, we need to make a move

Post#1 » by MELO4MVP » Fri Feb 1, 2008 8:52 pm

Fisher
Kobe
Odom
Gasol
Bynum

LA was already better than us and now its just unbelievable. Whoever wins the division most likely will face LA. Assuming we win the division, we're out in the first round unless we make a big move.

If we go now, we can still get Rudy for JR while they are still high.

Same thing Minny was thinking, a rebuilding team that has an all-star doesn't really make sense. Pick up two more draft picks, dump some salary, and get a prospect.

I think it will make LA better in the long run, but I'm not sure how Gasol will do in the triangle. I imagine it is going to take him some time to figure out what his role is, but it certainly makes them more dangerous than Kwame ever did.

Lakers did give up two first, though.....and Javaris is a nice young PG.

However, I suspect Memphis is going to make another trade. They have Lowry, Conley, and now Critterion at the PG position. Don't see how they get rid of any of them, though - all are very talented.

So, IMO, here's our trade choices: 1) Artest, 2) Delonte West, 3)JKidd (doubtful), 4) Charlie Bell, 5) Chris Duhon

We need a bigger point guard. PERIOD. Everywhere else we are solid, if you play AI at the two and have a big enough guard to play D on the 2guard of the other squad.

Thougths? Think Memphis will make another move? Would have to be Lowry or Conley...

Grizzlies are going to draft a big man in the draft. I am thinking Lopez or Jordan. But now they have three point guards; Lowry, Critton and Conley.

Interesting tid bit as well, Grizzlies got Marc Gasol from the Lakers who is playing very well in Europe. I think Jerry West played a part on both sides. Don't think it is so much of a rape as people make it seem to be. Grizzlies are under the cap and could very well look good next season with...

Jordan or Lopez
Darko
Gay
Free Agent signing or Mike Miller
Conley

I'd rather go for West, I think Kidd will cost us too much.

They have another PG that you forgot about, Navarro. I don't see them trading Lowry or Conley, but like someone else said maybe we can catch them while they are still high.

Griz must feel confident after Darko's big game on Camby.

Either that, or they are just trying to crash and burn so they can get more ping pong balls. Wait, wtf am I thinking? NBA teams have too much "respect for the league" to do that. :nonono:

Navarro is more of a two guard.

The Lakers are now a favorite in the west. While our Gm sit on his ass with a fat coach who do not care and no moves made.
Iverson, Iggy, Willie Green, Sammy D, Josh Smith, Rasheed and Ben Wallace, Larry Hughes Garnett, Francis, Lebron, Melo, K Mart, Wade, Amare, Q Richardson, T Mac, DC, and C Webb

Cryrak is a crybaby!

I don't think they are tanking, but they are trying to get under the cap which results in tanking. Considering the large amounts of big men in this draft, the Grizzlies probably already look confident enough in the draft. They've done a good job scouting players.

Which is why I keep preaching to keep our pick this season. I feel a big man could very well drop to us.

They gave up 2 late picks. They didn't need Javaris, they have 2 point guards.

^^^^^^^

They'll probably make another move during draft day to move Conley, perhaps to the Blazers?

I'm not saying we'd be better then LA, but I think it would make us a slightly better team since all we'd have to give up for West could be JR and to get Kidd, we may need to move a starter.

Unless we can get Artest without moving any of our current starters, I'd try to get him, perhaps along with Delonte West?

Don't think the Grizzlies make that deal, considering how Darko's contract is one of the best in the NBA for its value (for a player not on a rookie deal).
