Every team above us has at least 4-5 people averaging 10 points per game. Phoenix even has 6. We only have 3, Tracy, Yao, and our most inefficient scorer, Rafer.

that's life. shaq and kobe weren't complaining when the kings had webber, bibby, stojakovic and those guys or the blazers had sheed, pippen, sabonis.

our 2 stars have to step up and deliver. we have 2 TRUE superstars if they play at their best. and our role players have stepped up.

its true the other teams have more balance and more good players overall, but i just want to 2 our 2 guys peaking at the same time.

That's very true. However, it's a much different story when you pair (arguably) the best scorer in NBA history with one of the best up and coming centers in the game, one of the best PFs in the game, one of the most versatile swingmen in the game, and one of the best coaches in history.

tmac always plays 100% in the playoffs. outside of last yr (where his fg% was pathetic), he usually performs his best in the playoffs.

and the more i see yao in this system, i see he's finidng ways to score easier.

again, i'm still optimistic.

somtimes talent don't always mean wins. we have talent but our talent hasn't translated on the court.

The West is stacked.

Talent wise, that is and we are one of those teams. However, we don't play like we are.

You're right that talent doesn't always translate to wins, but we saw how good the Lakers were with Bynum as their post presence...now add Gasol to the mix. You also have to be scared when you think about how well Gasol is going to fit into PJ's offense.

We don't need a 3rd star, but we need a legit 3rd scorer. I'm drooling at the prospect of getting Mike Miller on the cheap. He would be the perfect compliment to this club and make us competitive.

Forget Kidd, that amount of money is absurd to cough up.

Think Ron Artest.

He could really give us that boost and intensity to get us in the playoffs and be a dangerous, dangerous threat. He's familiar with Adelman, and I don't think we have the personnel for him to butt heads with.

I agree, but I don't know if Sacramento does. I know there have been Artest rumors, but something tells me that they're pretty happy with their talent right now. They've got some veteran stars and young talent, and I think with a few more pieces they could be a dangerous team.

I honestly don't know what to feel right now. I just don't see the Rockets winning a title any time soon without another big name player. You absolutely can't trade McGrady now...you gotta find a big name point guard. We need a big 3. Sadly I don't see that happening unless we get a top 5 pick in this year's draft.

These are the deals that make you want to stop caring and stop being a fan. This deal was so one-sided for the Lakers it destroys anything McHale did this summer. Pau is a good player...nowhere near great. The thing is you add him without subtracting anything. Know you got Kobe who is great and 3 other good players in Odom, Pau and Bynum. And you would think there is no way they could co-exist....and you look on the bench and there is Phil Jackson..possibly the greatest coach ever.

This is just so all around bad I dont honestly know what to think anymore. How do you root for your team knowing that there is no chacne with the current roster that they can win. I mean yea getting into the playoffs is nice but you get into the playoffs with hopes of winning a title. This trade just adds another stacked team to a conference with 3 others. The Lakers on paper are at the top of the stack. We are nowhere near even winning a title this year and when we get to that point we got a ridiculously great Laker team now that everything in the West will go through.

What do you do as a fan? Knowing that you have 0% to no chance of winning a title unless something just as great happens to your team in terms of a trade. Go get Jason Kidd and we'll be there and everything will be great. Don't and you ask yourself why even bother supporting your team?

Worst of all, Lakers still have Odom to trade for someone like Kidd. If Memphis buys out Kwame and he returns to LA, I think the league is just rigged. There is no way you trade Gasol for essentially three low first round picks.

They said that will happen. Kwame has to wait 30 days though before he can re-join the Lakers. They say he will do that.

In all honesty they can go ahead and trade Bynum for Kidd now and they would be even better.

who are lakers 3 superstars? Kobe, odom, and Bynum or fisher?
Bynum and fisher are far from superstars. I think that Rockets can beat the lakers in a 7 game series.

We've got a good supporting cast in scola, rafer, battier, brooks, landry.

This is depressing . it's now 4 teams we don't have a chance against in a playoff series.
Time to try and get Kidd or rebuild , seriously

Lakers:
Kobe - superstar
Odom - caliber all-star
Gasol - former all-star
Bynum - future all-star

Rockets
Yao - superstar
T-Mac - 50% superstar
Francis - former all-star
Mutombo - future hall-of-frame

we aint too bad
we just need to find a way to put Francis in the rotation

I know it's not realistic but a trade that will benefit both Lakers and Rockets is battier for Odom. Battier will play Rick Fox role in the old Lakers champion team. Odom will give Rocket another dimension on offense. However, the salary is too big a difference for it to work unless Lakers are willing take Mike James salary.
