Trade For Michael Conley
with there being three good young point guards in memphis it appears that one of them will be the odd man out.. Conley with good trade value should be traded to the blazers who would love to acquire a good character guy that also is best friends with Oden.
Blazers could send Martel Webster and 2010 first rounder
Memphis sends Michael Conley Jr.
works for both parties.. Webster is one of the best young shooters in the league and so he would be a logical replacement for Mike Miller and would be good next to Rudy Gay.

I don't think Memphis has any interest in trading Conley.
The Gasol trade if anything makes it less likely. They are now "officially" rebuilding and Conley is a center piece alongside Rudy Gay. Yes they have Lowry and now Crittenton, but Iavaroni LOVES Conley, and so does the organization.
We would have to overpay tremendously to get Conley if he's available. I'm a huge Conley fan and would trade Webster and a first for him rather quickly, but Memphis wouldn't touch that.

Maybe not the most likely of deals, but if KP were to engage in trade talks with Memphis for Conley, he could possibly use that as leverage for the Harris deal. he could then lowball NJ and say "Take it or leave it because I can get Conley if you don't want (insert lowball package here)." Knowing (or at least thinking) that KP can get a more desirable prospect cheaper, or at least at roughly the same cost could potentially rush Thorn into making whatever deal happen while he still has the chance.

Throw Frye in the package. He can be their short term stop gap for PF/C help. How bout Frye, Jack and our 1st? They seem to be high on getting as many picks as they can to rebuild. Actually now that I think about it, since their trying to save money, maybe KP could make it happen if their were a big contract to take back in the deal.

Memphis does have a surplus of PG's, but I'm sure Conley won't be the odd man out. If anything, they'll look to move Lowry or Crittenton. I imagine they may experiment with playing Crittenton next to Conley for stretches and Lowry could be moved. Lowry probably has the least value, but a team like Memphis will probably want to hang on to most of their young, rookie scale guys.
Getting Conley from Memphis, realistically, may take something like this:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=987~130~3195~829~2754~2768~550~2015&teams=22~22~22~17~29~29~29~29&te=&cash=
however they seem to value Conley and Gay the same way we value Roy and LaMarcus, even though Conley hasn't proven a whole lot yet.
The only reason NJ is involved in the link above is because Collins was just traded to them. We'd take Collins and Cardinal with Conley. Memphis would take our 1 bad contract (Miles) for their two and receive Jack, Outlaw, and Frye, the same components mentioned in the Harris trade.
Again, this is wild speculation and I don't believe they could trade Collins before the deadline because they just received him. I'm trying to be objective here, and I think that's close to what it would take.

If we're going to have to give up that much to get our future PG, I'd rather we get Harris than Conley.

trading outlaw, frye, and jack is paying too much for harris, sending it out for conley is ridiculous.
And Memphis wouldn't begin to consider taking on Miles...his contract is about 2 years too long considering their salary maneuvers.

Interesting proposal... Portland would be throwing away their 08 cap plan, but it could be worth it for Miller and Conley.
Is there any way to do this deal without Frye? Portland's frontcourt would take a serious hit here if this were done during the season. Maybe replace him with Sergio or something.

If that's realistic then we're done with the idea of getting him, period. Giving up our entire depth at PF for two complete scrubs like Collins and Cardinal for a promising but still mediocre PG is simply ridiculous.
