Bynum is one of the best big young centers in the league. Perkins shut him down in the 2 games but Bynum is still a very good player. The fact that the Lakers got a borderline all star in Gasol without giving up Odom makes the Lakers a better team than they were yesterday.

Either way you look at it, this trades makes the Lakers better than they were. They added Gasol, who is in his prime without giving up much.

Yeah, this is a great trade for the Lakers, but they aren't the best team in the league.

Hey guys I really don't come with any ill will, the Celtics are a hell a team and it has shown most of the year they are to be dealt with. In reality it's just one move in all essence we had to make.

Now we have to hope that Bynum comes back strong and then we have to start the gelling process, so it's not going to be as easy as we'd like to think.Just like people thought the C's would have problems gelling but when you have vets like Paul,KG and Ray it's a little easier. But I'm glad both of our teams have made moves to get the best and most feared teams back in front of the NBA story again.

Good luck the rest of the way and hope KG recovers well. Thanks guys.

Just wait. You guys are acting like those envious other fans who laughed about our bench or our PG/C-situation after we dealt for KG. Or tried to tell the world that KG is a loser because he didn't get into the playoffs two times in a row! Gasol is just that. A very good player who will absolutely thrive on a contender. A player like Kevin Garnett, who became underappriciated because he had a bad team.

I don't think anyone is disputing that the Lakers are going to be a very good team and a contender. But to call them the best team in the league after this trade is very premature and that's the notion that people is disputing.

I love how you Celtic fans are trying to downplay this. The fact of the matter is, the Lakers might not win the Title this year. They need some time to build chemistry with Gasol and nobody knows what Bynum will look like when he comes back, if he comes back at all this season.

But next year, when we roll out a starting 5 of

C Bynum - Much improved
PF Gasol - Perfect for the triangle
SF Odom - Perfect as a number 4 option
SG Kobe - Yeah
PG Fisher - The glue that holds it all together

PG Farmar - Even better than he's been this season
PF/C Turiaf - Our garbage man with a jumpshot
PF Radmanovic - Extra big body who can score
SG Vujacic - Dead Eye three point shooter who plays good D
SF Ariza - Slashing Big who can score and play D like nobodys business...who might be a better fit at the start spot than Odom.

You guys are in trouble. I'll interpret your bold arrogance as flat out denial. The Lakers are better than you again.....your dominance didn't even last half a season....

See you in June....

Ainge has to counter punch this move as our window is shorter. the Lakers trio is younger and has more time.

In Ainge I trust.

Sam I am is next this is already being talked about.
And another big and satrt buying play off tickets.

Ok ballboy, be sure to get Kobe and Pau front row tickets to the finals. They should enjoy watching a champion.

Yeah, the Pistons are pretty good.

I think the best in the league and finals for this year predictions are way premature, with Bynum being out, and Gasol just coming in, there simply wont be enough time for them to gel and get a high enough playoff seed to win the west. Next year is a different story however. I think Phillip will have all the wrinkles ironed out, combine that with the growth of Bynum, Farmar, and Ariza and thats when the Lakers become a force again.

The Lakers just became the team to beat? I think Gasol is overrated. The jury is still out there.

They still don't get out of the west. Two guys who play the same position in Bynum and Gasol and both need to be on the low block to score.

Anybody who thinks he's some hybrid forward like a Bosh or Garnett who can play inside and out is dead wrong. His offense happens form the inside. Its almost like the Zach Randolph, Eddy Curry situation (admittedly w/out the attitude/motivation probs). Too similar IMO

I think they get to the second round and get knocked out by one of the big boys out west.

have you seen Pau play?? he wants no part of goin inside and bangin around. Pau and Bynum compliment each other pretty good actually.

This year, the Lakers aren't going to come out of the West. A guy coming into midseason is going to take time to find his way. Then Bynum might not even be back this year, at least another month and a half. THIS YEAR they can't beat the Spurs or Mavs..

In the games I've watched of him it didn't look like he was some jump shooting big. His offense occured on the low block for the most part, but hey since you've watched the Grizz so much I guess you know better.

I'll give you that he doesn't wanna bang on D, but for the most part his offense was predicated on operating from the low block

I still think the Hornets will win the West, Lakes may win the Pacific though.

i think i love you! lol.

seriously, on the general board, ppl are saying they'll win it all! please.

first bynum will be out for about 2 months, and if he comes back, he'll have to get back in shape and it will take a while for him to get into the system.

secondly, i've watched the grizz at least three times this year against the hornets, and i wonder each time why ppl thing gasol is a franchise player. he's a ***** defender and is not capable or willing to pass out of a double team. selfish to the bone. he's like a backhole, and he wasn't even the number 1 option on a bad team. he's not a good leader, and he sulks up and down the court.

add his horrible defense to a team that is lacking in defense since bynum went it, good luck with that! plus kobe has gone back to his ball hogging ways - but in his defense, who is he going to pass it too? last night lamar odom had a lot of minutes - i think he scored 7 points!

there isn't a big 4 in lakerland, because lamar odom isn't even close to an all star player.

there isn't even a big 3 there because bynum is out for a long time!

its just pau and kobe. meh.

Thats rough you must be sucking the big one in your league. So since you've been watching him what is your opinion on how he scores. I've watched him throughout his career maybe a dozen times and in those games he was scoring on the inside for the most part. Not to say he was banging down low like Shaq, but it wasn't liek he was popping outside and hitting jump shots either

haha, nah, im actually second. just picked up deron williams last week, what up?!?!
whenever i watch him play he seems like a chameleon, he changes his style of play to wherever he doesnt have to play rough. whether its goin inside, outside, he does it all.

You two guys are really underestimating an underappriciated player in this league. Give him a well-rounded team and he will absolutely beast in the low post. He's not Kevin Garnett but only one step below. Great passer, decent jump shooter, ballhandler, shot blocker and a very good team player.

he is on a bad team and still isn't getting 20 and 10! step below - how about like 5 steps.

great passer? don't make me cry. his teammates which he was a great passer. i've literally seen some of his teammates look disgusted after he didn't give up the ball this year. if he gets 5 assists one game, it was by accident.

he can score.
