PFs better than Pau:
Duncan
Garnett
Dirk
Jefferson
Brand
Bosh
Boozer
Amare (if you want to count him as a center than switch with Marion)
West
Sheed
LMA
and possibly JO and Josh Smith.
By my count, that's 11-13 PFs better. Which means Pau is not a top 5 PF.
Still a great trade for you guys.

Winning solves everything. Trust me Pau will be the happiest he's ever been once he hits Lakerland. It just sucks that our next home game isn't for 3 weeks! I can't wait to see the reception Pau gets! Pau's numbers will probably stay the same or drop just a little bit this year, but other than that he's probably ecstatic that he's on a contender.
Actually I have no idea what's going to happen with Pau's stats... theoretically they could all go up because of the way he fits in the triangle, especially with Bynum out for another month and a half.
That could be true in this case. I know its not like
that in all cases. As you guys all know better then
I, Shaq and Kobe were winning but still there was
room for being unhappy. It will be interesting to see.
Speaking of Pau's stats.. .
The Blazers fans over on our board were wondering
how Pau is going to handle the PF spot. Pau gets most
of his points by taking out bigger/slower centers, facing
up for the jumper or using his speed to go around them.
With him playing PFs which are a bit quicker and react
faster, Pau might have to change his game up a bit.. .
But as of late I know Pau has been playing some PF.

I don't know if its been mentioned but the interesting thing is Mitch undoes the one deal that has tarnished his GM career, the Caron for Kwame trade. The net trade is Caron for Gasol which is basically incredible for the Lakers as far as fit goes, and with all the smart rebuilding that Mitch has done through the draft, we really are looking at possibly one of the best GMs in the league.
Thanks Jerry!

The Lakeshow got a big steal in Gasol, who wasn't happy in Memphis and some of the fans weren't happy with him. Mostly due to his lack of defense and whining at times. He will be a big help for Kobe and Odom offensively. Can't say how will his numbers will be effected with him be with the Lakers now. Good luck to Pau with the Lakers now.

Well maybe I should have phrased it better. Pau is a legit player to name when you're talking top 5 pf's in the league. Another thing to look at is all those other guys with the exception have had great teams to support them with the exception of Jefferson.
If you ask me Gasol is a much better player than a guy like Amare because of his great passing ability and his ability to get his own shot off without the help of Nash.
Gasol will be considered a top 5 pf in the league by the end of the year. Winning is the only thing he's been lacking to be put into that argument. Gasol certainly has proved he has the will and desire to be great on his own, but now he's got Kobe, Bynum, and Odom behind him. Let's see how good he looks without the defenses loading up on him. He's got the midrange game, the pick and roll game, the face up game, passing ability, defensive desire, and post game! It's over! LETS GO LAKERS!
At first my mind was numb with happiness, but now it's really starting to set in that we just got Pau Gasol while retaining Kobe, Bynum, and Odom. Gasol is going to show his true potential. I just hope his back stops bugging him this season.
