Denver close to making a big trade?

Post#1 » by jzmagik » Sat Feb 2, 2008 8:14 am

http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=756825

Apparently one of their posters whos a trusted insider by the Denver board says they're closing in on a deal that will bring in a bigtime player without having to give any away. Think there's any truth to this? Who could it be? It doesn't seem like they have the pieces to land Kidd, whos the only big name player I could think of they would want.

Eric Stratton wrote:Our guys are almost fanantical about not letting stuff get out in public, but we have potential trades with nearly 20 teams on the board right now that are somewhere in the process.

Most don't make sense for us, some are just too expensive given where we are in the luxury tax, but a couple are very, very interesting and would absolutely make us better.

There is one in particular they are getting close on. It is for a big-time player and wouldn't cost us any big-time players.

God, I sure hope not. Don't they have enough freaking talent on that roster? How many All-Stars do they need to put them over the top?

There was a rumor the other day in Kingsland about discussions between the Kings and Nuggets about Artest.

I've heard its Artest for Kleiza/Najera...perhaps a 1st should be included by Denver, as well.

I don't know about that compatability between those three, and the defense on the perimeter isn't improved. One of Denver's weak defensive areas.

I think it would be quite funny if they traded Carter for Kmart...

After Gasol.....but apparently the Nuggets had a pretty good offer on the table for Gasol too, before they chose to go with the Lakers.
