The Domino Effect........Lakers Put West On Notice

Post#1 » by DEEP3CL » Sat Feb 2, 2008 9:29 am

I grantee you right now that the rest of the Western Conference is worried about the trade of Pau to the Lakers. Not only did the Laker front office have the patience not to react harshly to Kobe's trade demands, they also didn't cave in to other teams insistence on including Bynum in a trade deal.

I can't see how the rest of the teams in the conference stand still, this trade will certainly cause some body to flinch and make a deal they probably wasn't going to make. I see Dallas in panic mode right now, just saw where Cuban was willing to give Kidd a 20 mil extension.

The thing is who will they give up ? One of their big salary guys would have to go to make it work.

You can book it something is going to happen over the next 3 weeks before the dead line.

If the Mavs want to go into salary cap hell for the next 3 years and give up their best young player then let them.

I'm so much happier about the trade we made today.

We didn't mess with our rotation at all except for replacing Kwame Brown with a 27 year old all-star PF.

^Well Kwame could come back. We haven't heard the last from him just yet.

The Spurs are taking notice. The only team I'm looking at right now in the West.

We got the Suns and Mavs eating out of our hands this season. Should be fun.

I'd like to have some games back against the Celtics with a healthy Lakers squad. Oh well... there's always the Finals. :)

I heard that Kwame cant return to the Lakers immediately and would have to wait 30 days to do so. If thats the case i'd see him signing with someone else. Ive visited a couple of boards (Boston, Spurs) That there fans would suprisingly like to sign him.

The Mavs getting Kidd scares me to the point where I think we should try for him and Kwame coming back scares me.

You don't think Kwame screws us up? Or are you not afraid of a Dirk/Howard/Kidd combo? I guess Nash didnt do to well with the running with the Mavs so maybe Kidd won't either but it seems unlikely.

Dirk is always dirk.. even with a PG like steve nash his numbers were the same after nash left... howard on the other hand will flurish with kidd... but if dallas gives up their scorers off the bench like stackhouse, jason terry, diop... then its actually a lateral move because kidd doesnt bring much scoring, just enhances the starting offense when he is on the floor with them, but their bench will not be as productive which basically cancels out. It is scary if they pull something like we did and give up all their crap players for jason kidd.
Sasha Vujacic = The Phail Machine = The Ring Blocker

Trade Sasha before he ruins the Lakers next season.

Kwame won't screw us up if he comes back because he will probably be a third string player. It's always good to have an extra big man who can play d especially when we have garbage time. And Kidd to Dallas is a totally lateral move at best (ala the Nuggets deal to bring Iverson while giving up a solid pg in Miller).
