Then we could trade Bosh for Dirk and we would have the offense and defense to win a 'chip!

AB_21 wrote:I absolutely agree. Okafor's offensive game is missing but his defense and rebounding is unreal. Perfect for this team but two questions..

1. Are the 'Cats willing to part with Emeka yet...
2. Does this mean we're giving up on Bargnani at centre?

For the kinda money he wants and the fact that Bargs won't get enough time...I'll say no. But he's exactly what we need...a humphries plus, plus, plus, plus.

I'd trade Bargs for Okafor.

Well he turned down a $12 million per season extension that the Bobcats offered. Emeka's not stupid, and he was a finance major, so Emeka turning down this offer means one of two things:

1.- He doesn't want to stay in Charlotte
2.- He's a greedy mofo who wants max money simply because he is Charlotte's franchise player by default

Charlotte's in a tough situation because they thought they had the right recipe last year. They opened up the wallet for Wallace and Carrol, and thought the team would just get better. They absorbed a huge contract in the Richardson deal, which was supposed to put them over the top.

Unfortunately, they are now beginning to realize that Emeka may not be that max-money franchise player and that Felton may not be a true enough point guard to run their team to victory (don't even mention Morrison). I'm sure they would like to just forget about this season and see what happens next year with the same young squad, but they have to make a decision with Emeka NOW.

Do they overpay for Emeka, and add to the big contracts of Wallace, Carrol, and Richardson? Do they stick it out with Felton as their point guard, even though he showing signs of being more like a Mike James type PG? What do u do with Adam Morrison?

If Bobcats management truly believes in their young talent, then the decision should be easy. But something tells me that they are second guessing the talents that Okafor, Felton, and Morrison possess. They are high draft pick players, which will likely command overstated salaries as a result.

I just don't think the Bobcats truly believe that a core team of Richardson, Okafor, Morrison, Felton, Carrol, and Wallace will take them to a championship in the future...and the last thing they want to do is lock them all up into untradeable contracts.

Personally, I think that Okafor can be had for one of our PGs or Bargs plus filler n' picks. But it's more a matter of whether we'd be willing to take a $14 million dollar contract with him.

Yes, thank you AB_21 for that clarification.

I just find it hard to believe that Charlotte will let Okafor go for mere petty pieces. He definitely won't go for Bargnani + Dixon + Graham or w/e combination you guys can stir up.. and he wont go for Calderon + filler for the fact that the Cats already have an up and coming PG in Felton.

You can also cancel out Ford in that regard.. as he is way too much of a liability with his recent injury..

He won't go for AP, Humphries, Garbajosa, Moon, D-Mart.. won't also go for Kapono and Delfino.

But he WOULD go for Bosh, so I guess there IS a shot at landing Okafor.

U must have missed yesterdays trade....who would have thought Gasol would get traded for critt and brown....and to say they wouldnt want calderone because they have felton??? i guess the sonics wouldnt trade for calderon either...they have 3 pointgaurds....but i guess you know best...afterall you do post more than i do!

Your right! hehehehehehehehe

Every day of the week. I don't understand why anyone would want to keep Bargs. He is and always will be one dimensional. And the dimension he plays in we have lots of already.

If we could get rid of some big contracts like tj and nesterovic i would love to see a lineup like this:

Okafor
Bosh
Artest
Parker
Calderon

Perfect for playoffs ball!

I love Emeka, and he'd be perfect. If we could get him for Bargs+1st, I'd be pretty pleased.

But after the commitment Charlotte has made by moving Wright for Jrich, I'm not sure that they'd be willing to take 1 step back in hopes of taking 2 steps forward in the future.

We wouldn't have an issue commiting 12+ mil for him, I think, as we'd still have that 19 mil in expiring deals as well as other assets next summer to pick up a stud sg/sf.

Okafor would obviously be a great fit but I would be hesitant to shell out a max-contract to this guy. He has back problems and he doesn't look like he's getting much better.

I'd throw 10 million or so with max raises at him for sure in a S & T. He'd be a great third big for us, who can start or come off the bench. Give'em Rasho's expiring and some filler. If that's no good, forget'em. I wouldn't break the bank for that guy, $$$ wise or asset wise. But he'd be a great guy to steal.

He already rejected a contract extension that started at 12 million with max raises, I highly doubt he would agree to one that starts at 10 million after having an injury free season.

What really scares me away from Okafor is his back. He had quite a few injuries and I don't like the idea of giving a injury prone player a near max contract. We would also have to give up Jose or Andrea and filler in a trade.
