It's interesting that with all of the hype that the Super Bowl brings, that this meaningless regular season game between the Bucks and Rockets is set to have a bigger total audience...

Just imagine if there ever was a Yi vs Yao in the playoffs? :o

Yes, it will. No one outside of the US cares about the Super Bowl, whereas China is basketball-crazy and has a billion citizens.

Their last meeting killed last year's Superbowl ratings. So it's not a stretch for this meeting to beat the the current Superbowl.

yea but it wont hinder each other's audience totals... Most of US population will watch superbowl while the chinese watch nba game... its not like those viewers were going to watch the superbowl anyway.

I'm just wondering if China really has a Nielsen rating system in place for the 1billion+ people that watch TV there.

It's probably just conjecture on how many people actually watch the game.

Sure, but a lot don't have televisions or a lot of leisure time, and not everyone cares basketball, and especially about a meaningless game. It's mostly the fact that these estimated figures always tend to be so exaggerated.

200 million is about right. Not everyone in China is gonna watch it.

Yao VS YI>Superbowl

I didn't even know what the Superbowl was until I was like 12.

well more and more chinese are watching/playing basketball...

i think the numbers are exagerrated for sure...

but in the future the game will draw a lot more than it does right now

Basketball is the Chinese National Sport, with an audience of 300,000. Only 200 million watching worldwide? That's not too impressive...
