East catching up to the West LOL

Post#1 » by Storm Surge » Sun Feb 3, 2008 4:39 am

Mark this thread up as another pissed off Rockets fan. 8th seeded teams in the west playing freaking .600 ball. Rockets and Portland, despite being 7 and 8 games over, are missing the playoffs. Freaking New Jersey is 7 games BELOW .500 are in the 8th seed in the East.

The East got WORSE.

Should the Houston Rockets relocate and move to the East?

Any objections?

If the playoffs were top 16 in the league instead of top 8 in each conference, it would look like this:

1. Boston
2. Detroit
3. Phoenix
4. New Orleans
5. Dallas
6. San Antonio
7. Los Angeles
8. Orlando
9. Utah
10. Denver
11. Golden State
12. Portland
13. Houston
14. Cleveland
15. Toronto
16. Washington

The East only has 6 teams and after the 1st round only it would be more likely that Boston and Detroit are the only ones left.

I never did like the idea of Eastern and Western Conferences' top-8 seeds. Such a dumb idea. Why doesn't the league just go for the top-16 teams instead?

i always thought that the nba should change to a national and american conference like the nfl and mlb....this way hornets and grizzlies fans could stop complaining abt being in the western conference
During the Wizards' rout, a heckler yelled at new Knick Steve Francis, "Hey Stevie, Where are you going next?" Francis turned to the fan and quipped, "To the bank."

Dammit! The Kings would be #17 and STILL not in the playoffs.

....Top 17 anyone?

Won't happen and bad idea. Teams would have to travel much farther and back to back games would kill teams.

I like the top 16 thing, only thing is, most Eastern teams probably wouldn't make the playoffs for the next 5-10 years the way they're currently constructed...

Right now the season is way too long and drawn out....I really think they should have 2 'championships'... you could have the 'minor' cup could start midway through the season and be a best of 5 format with the traditional conference seeding format... Then at the end of the season you have the best 16 team seeding with the full 7-game format, and you're awarded the 'major' championship... then you wouldn't have any meaningless games like you do now, and you might see average teams get lucky and win the minor cup...

11 of the top 17 are in the West actually. Sacramento is healthy now, and will finish ahead of a few Eastern conference playoff teams with a tougher schedule to boot.

But Cleveland and Washington will improve their record at lot over the next couple months.
