i kurt thomas like another version of charles oakley, tough, solid D, can hit the jumper, more of a post game than oakley and doesnt talk as much.
same with udonis haslem

i like the sonics young bigs also, so young and have potential i would try to pry anyone of them away just to give it a shot, remember the were all 1st round picks while they have collison and wilcox as well.
swift - often injured, maybe they would just get rid of him for close to nothing
petro - actually contributes, harder to obtain i guess.
sene - 2nd yr, no burn at all, in the d league iirc

My view is that if we are to make a trade this year, it should be for a youngster with potential, but can't find minutes on his team; somebody like Hakim Warrick, Saer Sene, Robert Swift, Patrick O'Bryant, etc. I'd be surprised if somebody ate Rasho's salary for the remaining 1.5 years.

The big splash should come next season before the trade deadline, where we would have $19.7M in expiring contracts and can swing for the fences.

Gets me giddy just thinking about it.

You can add to that huge sum this year's draftee (as a young prospect) and we can deal our draft pick next year (to entice any team further).

The question is which star player is going to be disgruntled next year and which team is going to go on a fire sale. Suggestions are welcome :D

francisco garcia and beno udrih of the kings

rodney carney and thaddeus young of the 76ers.

I could add more but lazy. this is in a realistic perspective because of the low contract and money wise. young and what we need

Sene can't play, he and Swift are busts. I would look at Petro instead.

Carney could be had but Young is a keeper, no way PHI will trade him.

Kurt Thomas is what we need and West too. We should really concentrate on Seattle and target these 3 players: Thomas, West, Petro...

Actually, it could be 21.7 millions if you include Baston and Graham.

I agree with that. We could even make a deal in the off-season. We just have to be patient; right now we don't have a lot of assets, which we can afford to trade.

I don't want the Raptors to take on any big contracts right now. Lets face it this team isn't getting past the 2nd round no matter who we get and likely won't get out of the 1st either.

If there's a player out there similar to Delfinos contract who could break out on our style of team, then BC should do it. But don't make any big commitments right now, its not the right time.

IF YOU GUYS WANT CAP SPACE IN 2009, it might be a decent idea to include Seattle in some sort of three way deal where we give up Kapono + Garbo + Dixon and get back Wally Z (who would expire with Rasho to give us actual cap space we can use).

I dont mind having someone like him on Raptors if he can foul the other players like he does.

I have a hard time believing Artest would corrupt anyone. We have the most mellow and least wild personalities in the league. We can handle a bad personality as long as it helps transform our team into a tougher defensive mided one.

raptors should be patient and wait to see what's available next year. remember, an expiring AP/rasho/garbo are much more valuable than this season.

That'd be my plan. Look what nine million expiring plus a mediocre prospect got the Lakers.

Rasho is about 8 million, Garbo and AP are about that combined I think. That could get a real difference maker next season. A combination of any of those plus a pick and we can get a talented wing that we so desperately need.

Yup, I am actually curious to see who they are going to pick in this year's draft, more than who can come in and help this team right away. Think long term...

rasho for darko. i'll take the extra year, and memphis would probably give it. we need shotblocking something fierce- i'd love to see darko start next to bosh and have andrea play bigger minutes off the bench.

one of bosh and andrea needs to be on the floor at all times, imo, and this could let us start a shooter at the 3 spot and put moon's solid bench game back on the bench.

Darko would not be a bad pick up, but Rasho has been steady as a back up C and it seems he has a bad attitude too. If it was a risk player, I rather have Artest. Speaking of which, anyone interested in picking up Magloire if he can be had for nothing? I am interested in Charlie V trade too but probably have to do a 3 way.. At least CV31 can do offensive borads
