you really have no idea what you are talking about. It's a shame that games weren't all video recored back in wilt's day like they are today.
My uncle told me he saw one game where Wilt was playing the Washington Bullets. Wes Unseld grabs one arm, Elvin Hayes grabs his other arm, Wilt is strong enough that he lifts both of them off the ground and dunks anyway. ANd you think Emeca Okafor is going to stop him? And Gerald Wallace couldn't jump higher than Wilt.
do people really believe stuff like this? i mean, he didn't break free and dunk but he actually carried them (what, like 500lbs?) up with him? LoL...
come on. he was strong but he wasn't a 7 foot magnus ver magnusson.

No, he was superhuman and the only reason he didn't beat the Celtics, or win a title without West and Baylor was because he simply didn't think his teammates in Philly were worthy of the title he would have gave them.
True story.

I'm talking about the lob itself. If a ball is properly thrown and not 13 ft in the air (top of the backboard) Okafor fronting Wilt and Wallace or say Josh Smith, Lebron James or some other athletic SF would be at least able to tip the ball before Wilt got to it.
If you think Wilt could do that in todays game, get triple teamed and still dunk a lob alley oop with 5 people on him you guys will believe anything then.........

my favorite picture of Wilt. I love how you can't tell whether he's going up or down, or if he's even trying that hard! If I didn't know any better I'd look at that picture and think it was fake.
I agree some of the stories are outlandish and I think some of these quotes are probably players joking around about it. Ya know the reporter is like "tell us about Wilt" and the player jokingly says that Wilt once dunked it so hard it broke his toe when it hit the ground/his toe.
However I do believe some of them.

Ok...here's my problem with your analysis. If the ball is perfectly placed at the highest point possible, I think no one could get it but Wilt, as he probably could get higher in the air than anyone in the league today because of his length and athleticism. Think Dwight Howard plus another inch or two. If a ball was thrown to the right spot in the air, I don't think anyone could stop Dwight from going up there and getting it. Could they get up there and make it difficult? Of course. They could use their body to nicely nudge Dwight while in the air away from the ball. They could make it difficult for him to get a good jump off (crowd him so much he can't bend his knees completely), or hold him slightly.
But if they all just went straight up with no interference from anyone, doubt anyone could stop Dwight from coming down with that ball, even more so with Wilt.

Red Kerr has told that story multiple times. He mentioned it on the air during one bulls game I was watching a few years ago.

If there wasn't videotape of it happening, you probably wouldn't belive Vince Carter jumped over a 7 foot player to dunk. I have no reason to doubt my uncle, who saw it happen.

Well that's exactly my point. On say an out of bounds play and teams know that other teams like to throw lobs at the basket you crowd the player. I can't believe that a team that decides to throw all 5 players at one guy can't stop a lob pass. Especially since they said they were trying to stop him so it shouldn't have been a surprise. If you want to take a lob pass away you can do it. First off crowd the passer, so obviously they didn't do that. Second you do take the legs away from a guy so he can't get a good jump. Lean on him, push him do something. I mean where is all that talk about it was more physical back then? No easy trips down the lane.
It's just obvious Wilt was bigger and more athletic than everyone else. That wouldn't be the case now. He may be the most athletic player today but the gap would be much smaller. He would have to work a lot harder to get his points.........

thats more believable than someone jump squatting 500lbs 10 feet in the air.
a tad embellished, i'd say.
