Cavs looking at Gordan G.
HoopsHype.com has said that the Cavs are interested in Gordan G. ...What do we think we could get or what do we want, besides expiring contracts...maybe a late first or second round pick at best....

I doubt it was "hoopshype.com" that said this since all they do is take other journalists work and post clips of it on their site. If Giricek somehow gets moved, it would take an expiring and probably a 2nd Rd pick since Cleveland can't trade it's first this year and is also unlikely to give up a future 1st for a guy that could sign elsewhere this summer.
If he were traded... it means absolutely nothing since Cleveland's 2nd rd pick will be somewhere around #50 and we could just buy a pick at that point.

and his contract is already "expiring" at the end of the season.
we'd have to take back some1 right?? at $4mil/yr (ish). and if im not mistaken he cant be traded w any other player; this smells like a deal that may become a "part" of another deal;
whether its the 2nd part of the Philly deal, or a3 team etc deal for Cleve.
all we'd want is $$$$$ and maybe the pick; assets are never bad.

I don't know that this would be part of anything bigger. I think it would just be a deal where Giricek isn't playing here and is serving as nothing more than an expiring contract so we move him for another expiring deal and grab a pick along the way.
Cleveland does have a similar expiring contract in Ira Newble so in theory they could send him plus some form of a pick (2008 2nd) to us for Giricek. That would seem like a win-win deal that I would do but as I said before, trading for pick #50 means very little when you consider the ability to buy it. I'm sure Stefanski would rather keep the cash if he can get a pick like this.

The Cavs don't have what it takes to get Miller. Stefanski has already said that he's been offered expirings and a first for Miller and that isn't going to get it done. Cleveland does have big enough expirings or the ability to trade their 1st rounder this year or any solid young prospects on their roster... so I think it's safe to rule them out of a deal for Miller.
I guess from Cleveland's perspective is that they may wait to see if they can get Bibby and use Newble, Gooden, and others.

I don't see a straight Miller for expiring type of deal but Philly could move Miller & maybe Green for expirings, Damon Jones, Simmons & picks & still end up with about 6 million less on their payroll for next year. I do agree that there should be better deals out there.

The Guilty Party:
small point: regarding the poss #50 pick that we might get in return: Im thinkin the 76ers might not mind it so much considering the fact that we gave up $$$$ to get J Smith and also might owe Utah our #2.
(kinda like: 'why buy a pick and spend $$$ if we dont have too' and then this way if they want to move up from #50, they might only have to pay a fraction of the cost to say move up to #40; w #50 & $100k)
i have no clue what picks cost--- just a hypo
and 2nd: the collective agreement allows each indiv team participatin in a trade to "structure the trade" in a way that best suits them.
Correct me if I'm wrong but if the 76ers traded GG w another player to Cleve for Newble and $$$$ and a pick (and another player if needed for $$$ reasons)-- I believe the league allows the 76ers to structure the deal as TWO individual trades while Cleve might keep it as ONE trade for salary reasons....

Send them Gordon, get back Ira Newble and a 2nd. Seasons not going anywhere and neither guy is really a key contributor. Iras gets about 13 minutes a game with Gordo getting about 8 or 9.
So I say, if they really want him then Philly gets a future 2nd. Basically looking at it as a free 2nd round pick.
Philly already got a future 1st and an expiring for Korver. So essentially this makes the trade Korver for Ira, a 1st, and a 2nd.
