IMO they will have a cap space not more than $9.5m. That calculation is base from paying their rookies drafted at no. 4 & no. 24.

Well, he just threw a number out there. I'd like to see how he actually came about that number on a per player basis.

Make an offer to an RFA or two (early one to Emeka, for example, and if that fails, mabe one to Calderon)
If that does not work, then save the cap space for 2009.

Right now, with the Sixers contract structure, they have that flexibility...

I agree and have a 4 step plan for our cap space.

1. I call Phoenix and make an offer for Amare. If I get shot down and am told Amare isn't going to be moved....

2. I sign Emeka Okafor to an offer sheet and make Charlotte match it. If Charlotte does step up and match a deal for him....

3. I see if Josh Smith is still unsigned and I do the exact same thing. If Atlanta's ownership ponies up the money...

4. I keep the $9.8MIL in cap space and go into next summer with hopefully around $18MIL in space when the following players could hit the market...

Andrew Bogut (RFA)
Marvin Williams (RFA)
Sean May (RFA)
Raymond Felton (RFA)
Drew Gooden
ALLEN IVERSON
Rasheed Wallace
Baron Davis
Elton Brand
Lamar Odom
Charlie Villanueva (RFA)
Chris Paul (RFA)
Glen Davis (RFA)
Shawn Marion
Deron Williams (RFA)
Ron Artest
Mike Bibby
Chris Wilcox
Paul Milsap (RFA)
Gilbert Arenas
Channing Frye (RFA)
David Lee (RFA)
Jason Kidd
Andrew Bynum (RFA)

Also, any RFA's this summer that only sign a 1 year deal would hit the market next summer as a UFA.

Wait.... I'm changing my mind. If you look at that list, most of the big name RFAs will probably sign extensions this summer so Bogut, Bynum, Deron Williams, Chris Paul, and David Lee will probably will be taken care of before we have a chance at them. If you look at who is left over, most of the big names will be well into their 30s and not a solid investment for the future.

So now I find myself thinking that we really should use our cap space this summer. Why wait another year when the market won't be much better. The free agent market doesn't really become interesting until the summer of 2010 when LeBron, DWade, and Amare could all opt-out and become UFA's. I don't think Stefanski can go through 2 and a half years of having a mediocre team and just sit on cap space.

This is the type of trade you do to rebuild. Just give up on this year (trading Gasol), pick up cap space (Brown, McKie), picks (1sts) and prospects (Critt and the other Gasol). If the Sixers were committed to rebuilding, something like this for Andre Miller would make me happy.

Grizz payroll
Looks like they will have at least a cap space arround $10m or more, depending on how much was the buy out on the contract of Stoudemire and their position in the draft. [/url]

Darko and Kwame...may have been said earlier, but has there ever been the pairing of two more disappointing draft picks in the history of the NBA???

Kwame has to be one of the biggest busts at #1 and Darko isn't just a bust because he sucks as a player but when you factor in who he was drafted ahead of it just makes it looks that much worse.

If you're going to tank, and I think it's safe to say the Grizz are in Tank Mode), than this is a great way to do it.

Haven't the Grizz been tanking sice Hubie Left?

I guess they are just perfecting their tanking.
