You're nuts man. Go root for the Lakers or something. 45 WINS will EASILY get us into the playoffs. Teams like the Blazers, Warriors, Nuggets and even Rockets or Jazz will fall down from the clip they're playing at. Also we play the Lakers 4 times. We'll skunk them! I could easily see Gasol flopping on them and pissing Kobe off in a matter of weeks. He doesn't want to be in LA and as much as I like his game, he'll bitch and moan.
Yeah, clearly i'm not a king's fan, because i'm willing to sit through a rebuilding period, that clearly makes me a laker fan. However, you, a person who refuses to watch the king's rebuild, is obviously a diehard king's fan.
Let's see let's assume Kings get 45, GSW, Blazers, Nug, Rockets, Jazz all get 45 as well...then these will need to happen
Kings - 23-13 .639
Warriors - 16- 18 .470
Portland - 18 - 20 .500
Houston - 18 - 17 .514
Meaning, if the kings win 45 games, and we have the tiebreaker for GSW/Port/Hou, we need the teams to be below .500
If we want Denver, Utah, or Lakers to slide, they need to go
Laker - 15 - 21 .416
Utah - 15 - 19 .441
Denver - 16-20 .444
So no, I don't think 45 wins will easily get us in the playoffs, and it won't get us into the playoffs at all. What makes you think any of those teams will slide, and the kings will only get better? You are talking about a best case scenario for the kings, and worst case for 3-4 teams. Not realistic.
Rebuild, and Rebuild only.
But Smills, answer this. Say we make it into the playoffs..then what? Next year we will lose Artest, or we lose all finicial freedom for a few years. How do we improve? How do we go from bottom seed playoffs to contender? Trade anyone, and we don't have the talent to make the playoffs, or we could sign people with the team being sooo much under the cap.
Why don't you go root for the Lakers
