Why did you guys hate Gasol?
I was wondering why some Memphis fans hated Gasol? I heard that some fans wouldn't buy tickets unless Pau was gone.
Also, will you guys still be supporting Pau?

I must say, one of Pau's problems is he is not a winner. He isn't somebody that seems like he will win a championship for you. Some people will say that he won a world championship with Spain but you have to remember he didn't play in the final game. He kind of choked in Eurobasket 2007. He was 5/12 from the free throw line in the final game. He missed 5 of his 8 free throws in the 4th quarter. Not to mention he turned the ball over leading to Russia's game winning shot.

Despite Pau's offensive prowess. He wasn't the guy the Grizzlies should've build around in the first place. For starters, he isn't a clutch player that will come through for the team in the crucial moments. His rebound numbers may be pretty good, but he isn't a major rebounder like your TDs', your Cambys, and Kaman types. Pau is more of a second in command type. So despite his efforts on the offensive end. His defense would always come up short make the fans question his dedication in Memphis.

Bingo.
Specific instances of Gasol being booed at home, as far as I remember, included poor play in general immediately after his trade demand last January (i.e. a timely turnover, missed freethrows at the end of the game, settling for outside jumpers, etc.) and as recently as this fall when he would settle for (and miss) 18 foot jumpers instead of posting up in the waning moments of close games.

Yeah...
No one says Gasol isn't a talented player, if he plays with passion he's one of the better 7-footers in the world. For whatever reason, it seemed like he didn't play with any passion here in the past season and a half. No one doubts that he can excel in the shadow of Kobe Bryant or on the Lakers roster in general - most would agree that he's more suited to be a second banana.
There's no reason to come here with a condescending attitude.

Gasol not a winner for Memphis fans ??
Before Gasol, the Grizzlies were the worst team in NBA history, with Gasol the Grizzlies went to the Playoffs for the first time , he completely changed the face of the franchise, and now the memphis fans say he is not a winner, because the incompetent managers can't build a better team around him, and they have to bash someone, the star, Gasol.

It could as easily be said that without Shane Battier the Grizzlies never made the playoffs.
Look, not all Grizz fans were Gasol haters. Gasol fans should be very pleased. Gasol haters should be very pleased. The only losers in this situation were true Grizzlies fans, who IMO got screwed by not getting the best deal for Gasol that could have been gotten.

If any player or players were responsible for the Griz success, it would have to be Posey, Wells, and Outlaw. The Griz won 50 games after getting those three.

Gasol is expected to play well wit hthe Lakers anyhow. He's playing alongside Kobe Bryant, a player who is capable of taking the team on his back plus he's a proven clutch player at that. So if anything. Having Gasol on the squad will make things more easier for KB24 so he don't have to do all the work.
