What series did Reggie win at the end? MJ's game 5 in 1989 won the series. If he misses the Bulls lose the series. He hit game winners in the finals and during the playoffs. Reggie with the game on the line in Game 4 of the 2000 finals with his team trailing missed the game winning 3 and thus the Pacers were down 3-1. MJ in Game 3 of the 1991 Finals and the Bulls down 2, comes up the court to tie the game over Vlade Divac. That's the difference between them.

wow so reggie not hitting a shot against a 67 win team that had the league's runaway MVP cost his team the series. thats like sayin lebron james' performance against detroit last year is greater than jordan's performance against boston. lebron's performance gave his team a 3-2 lead jordans performance left his team down 0-2.

thanks for playing.

No, how is he clutch if he doesn't do it in the most meaningful games? If a player is doing it in the finals and someone else is not, then the player who does it in the finals is going to be considered the player more clutch. It is plainly obvious.
Also Shaq fouled out that game and the Pacers were at home. If you are in the finals then you are good enough to win.
As far as your other comment, well Detroit didn't win the title that year and wasn't even a top 3 team in the league. Boston won the title that year and they are a top 3-5 team all time. Big Difference.

Ask yourself this question: If the game is on the line and you are in the Finals who do you want to take the shot and win it for you?
Do you want a guy who has hit game winners in the Finals or one who has not?

i love this kid. the circumstances involved in Jordan's big game are necesary but the they're irrelevent in the Pacers-Lakers series.

you're right. reggie miller never made a single shot in a meaningful game. what was i thinking.

sigh. i just need stick with my plan and ignore all poster with jordan in their name except j23f.

edit: and i think i made it clear in my original post that id rather give the ball to a better player but so many ignorant fans, (oh no he di'int) these days want to attach extra crap like clutch and character to a player's legacy rather than simply lookin at the better player.

Reggie Miller might be a little more clutch in hitting last second shots, but Jordan is more clutch throughout the entire game.

So what you are saying is that you rather take a player who was good at most times in the clutch but didn't hit the clutch shots when they really mattered over someone who made the clutch shots in the most important series virtually yearly?

How can you take Reggie over MJ? Reggie's big shots won a lot of games. But MJ's big shots won CHAMPIONSHIPS. End of story.

^ I agree, but I think that's because MJ was just a better player than Reggie. Reggie is one of the best shooters in NBA history, and one of them most clutch players ever. If there's a second left in the clock, game 7 of the NBA finals, I'd rather have Reggie take that shot.

Reggie's clutchness is overblown anyway because of a couple of high profile games. I believe the actual list of clutch reggie shots is pretty short.

And there is the fact that he missed the most important shot of his career. How does the number of wins the Lakers had that year make that shot more difficult or less important clutch wise? The fact is, make that shot and they take control of the series and Reggie may have a ring.

MJ by a fair margin. IMHO, because he can also make clutch plays on defense. I would take Reggie for pure 3-point shots and for games against the Knicks (preferably in the MSG), but for anything else, MJ.

Didn't Steve Kerr actually hit a large percentage of the Bulls' clutch shots? (If I'm not mistaken). He was similar to Robert Horry in that he was a clutch shooting role player.
If so, I'd say it's Reggie.

MJ offensive and defensive clutch. Reggie cant defend to save his life.
