btw - its important to remember that cap space is only one part of the equation.

As we just saw with the Lakers, expiring contracts can also be used in trade packages.

Next year, the Raps have $18 million in expiring contracts. And because of how the contracts break down, they have options on how to use them. $4 million, $8 million, $12 million, or $18 million. I'd love to see them use expiring contracts and a draft pick or two to snag a top tier player like the Lakers just did.

That looks like a distinct possibility. Just wait to pounce on a steal.

Because guessing wouldn't help anybody.

and i believe that it is not true

this season the cap is

The tax level for the 2007-08 season has been set at $67.865 million. Any team whose team salary exceeds that figure will pay a $1 tax for each $1 by which it exceeds $67.865 million.

and it will for sure go up next season. the raptors pay roll is

http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/toronto.htm

it looks as though we'll be around 11M+ under the cap next season and around 30M+ the season after.

edit: nvm i didnt read the whole thing, it was pretty long, but i didnt realize you added potential contracts. :-?

uhh, it's probably been said, but that is the luxury tax level, not the cap

if kwame's 9 mill contract can get Pau Gasol, doesnt that mean Rasho's 8 mill contract next year can get us a good stud as well?

and im sure we'll have a decent prospect like Critt in this year's draft
