As has already been mentioned, this makes me feel a little better about the KG trade, and happy that we got a deal done over the summer instead of waiting until the season started.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

oh noezzzz!!!! why in hell would memphis do that?? they have conley and lowry already!! navarro is a pure shooter (so a 2 - no way he can be a pg) but still they have 2 legit pg talents...

maybe it was the jerry west connection that still worked between the two teams... :noway:

I think they are tanking to draft Beasley? Or maybe the local Rose? If we would win the lottery and Mem was two, I'd swap picks and add Conley.

Laker fans are arguing with me that Gasol is a way better player than Al. They were both on bad teams this year, and stats don't lie.

It started with a Celtic fan saying the Grizz could have gotten a good deal from Boston for Gasol, then the comparison..

Doleac+Ratliff for Miller, Lowry and Gay. They need expirings

Foye/Lowry
Miller/McCants
Gay/Gomes
Jefferson/Smith
Hibbert/Richard

We could run with that.

Anything with Hibbert on this team, is an obvious joke from me.

More than anything else, this trade demonstrates the trade value of Theo Ratliff. A package of Theo, and two of Gomes/Smith/Telfair (since we couldn't afford them), would bring back a star.

I think its too soon in our development to be considering a star, but our best bet would be to be in the middle of a three team deal, where we send that package to a team wanting to move a star.

For example, I could have seen NJN, unable to move Kidd, decided to go for the title. They target Shawn Marion to be their PF, since he has only two years on his deal and expires with Kidd. Sarver wants to be rid of Marion's salary and discontent, and refuses to take salary in any deal. I think it could go like this:

NJ SENDS: Sean Williams, Krstic, Collins, Magloire, 2009 1st
NJ GETS: Marion, Craig Smith

They make the tough decision and deal Sean Williams for an All Star in Marion. they don't have to hope Krstic comes back healthy.

PHO SENDS: Marion
PHO GETS: Ratliff, Gomes, Telfair

Continued production and PHO may get under the lux this year -- definitely next year as they pry off $17 mil.

MIN GIVES: Ratliff, Gomes, Smith, Telfair
MIN GETS: Sean Williams, Krstic, Magloire, Collins, 2009 NJN 1st

Williams would be fantastic here, and Krstic was impressive last season before the injury. MIN eats $6 mil of Collins next year, but stays under the cap.

Interesting deal, but it makes more sense for NJ and PHo to leave us out.

Suns get the package we would get for Marion.

Man Gasol looks like a homeless junkie now compared to his young, clean-cut days.

True, but I don't see a need to pay Marion nearly $18 mil next season. I posted the example to demonstrate the value that an expiring contracts has to get stars, such as previous deals for Iverson, Gasol, and even KG.
