That's why I'd like to make moves that would make the next 3-4 years more entertaining and more rewarding rather than investing more time in the lottery year after year after year. Been there. Done that.

I hear what you're saying but Kidd gives us 14 months and not 3-4 years of entertainment. I feel a team that is sacrificing the future (picks and players) for a 14 month quick fix will never amount to anything.

What odds do you give on Kidd staying here past next season?

Our two most promising (maybe our only promising) players at the moment were both high lotto picks.

We don't have enough talent to compete. Adding Jason Kidd doesn't get us any closer to upper-echelon status. If he comes here and we go from being a bottom 5 team to a bottom 10 team over the next two years, he's actually hurt our future because we weren't able to add two 'Bogut or Yi' caliber players.

I hate the idea of adding older vets.

Not sure he would but I'd much rather have two seasons of Kidd than Mo, Villanueva, Dez and Gadz and hoping that maybe this year or next is the year the lottery provides a player who might someday be half as good as Jason Kidd is.

Fixed.

And how good is Jason Kidd right now?

He's playing with two guys, both of whom better than anyone on our roster, and they're still lousy.

And I hate the idea of spending year after year in the lottery, getting younger and younger and ignoring the need for proven veteran production and players who can play the right way and elevate the abilities of their teammates. I think the Bucks were doomed for another lottery appearance before this season began due to the shoddy personnel work done by Harris and Kohl but I abhor the idea of spending several more years in the lottery and going nowhere.

And as I've said many times, I'm not sure this team can afford it from a financial and fan interest standpoint. That's a critical issue (and arguably the most important issue) that continues to be ignored.

As I've posted before:

Prior to this season the Nets have never had a losing record with Kidd.

They have made the playoffs every season.

They have advanced past the first round four times.

They have gone to the Final twice.

I'd love to see the Bucks get within sniffing distance of just some of that someday. The Nets have had it all with Kidd.

But it's not two seasons. It's 14 months. And the entire time he was here he'd be pissing and moaning how he wanted out.

What are the odds Kidd stays after next year?

How many games do you think we would win with Kidd next season?

Speculative. There have already been reports that Kidd realizes he may not be able to go to a contender.

What are the odds Kidd stays after next year?

I'd bet against it but then you've cleared out a pretty huge chunk of cap room if he leaves.

How many games do you think we would win with Kidd next season?

Depends on what other pieces are added. I think adding Kidd to this right now makes the Bucks a viable playoff team that would win 40-43 games minimum if he was on it from the start of the season. With Kidd enhancing Bogut and Yi's production and development, making everyone else on the team better as well and being a legit leader who Redd would have to respect I could see the Bucks moving into the second round next season.

Given how we've only seen that happen once in the last two decades, I'd say that would be a pretty huge accomplishment.

You're speaking in past tense.

It's not likely to happen with the Nets this year, and part of the reason is Kidd is starting to look like the 35 year old that he will be in a month.

I think, if moved to an elite team, he could be a difference maker. Moved to another bad team and you'll see what those in New Jersey are witnessing.

At this point, bringing in Kidd would be pointless IMO. We aren't a team that is desperately looking for that one piece to get over the top and win a championship like the Lakers or the Rockets are. If we somehow got Kidd, yes we would win a few more games and we would improve as a team over the next 2 years. Yes we would be more fun to watch and more seats would be filled. But it still wouldn't make us anything close to a contender.

A bigger reason why is Carter hasn't played to his ability and the fact the Nets have major depth issues and have spent most of the season getting zip from their C and PF positions. Kidd is the least of that team's problems.

So we give up Mo, Simmons, CV and two lottery picks for one season in which we win 40-43 games and get crushed in the first round? I'll be honest...two lottery picks excite me a whole lot more than another season of lets try and play .500 ball and get crushed in the first round. Get bad or get good works for me but get average puts me to sleep.

I'd rather see this team build to something. Make the playoffs, get valuable experience, add a first-round pick for more talent, make a smart pick up or two using the ML in free agency, and keep steadily improving. Adding Kidd and the excitement he would bring would be terrific in my opinion. Not only would it help Bogut and Yi in my opinion but it sure wouldn't hurt Sessions having him learn from a future Hall of Famer.

I realize this is never going to happen. The Bucks will continue with the status quo, spend more time in the lottery, lose more money and fans while other teams make aggressive moves to improve. The Lakers just stole Gasol from the Grizzlies without giving up much at all as an example. Meanwhile, the Bucks will continue to enjoy the benefits of an early summer vacation.

Yawn.

And getting Kidd in a hope to win 40-43 games isn't also a yawn? How many game do you see us winning next season if we don't have Kidd and add a top 7 pick?

Nobody here disagrees that it would be exciting to see Kidd here. But I would understand why the Bucks would shy away from trying to trade for Kidd, especially if the asking price from NJ was too high. Hypothetically, if we did acquire Kidd in a trade, I would be excited as anyone. For a guy who has probably missed a handful of home games in the past 5 years, I would love to see Kidd on the Bucks. But it's something I would understand if the Bucks weren't comfortable giving up players and draft picks for a point guard who is on the downside of his career.

jason kidd is tied for my favorite player of all time

but i just don't think it's worth it for less than 2 years of kidd at this age.

if kidd was 28 i'd do it in a second and give them yi too, but not 35 year old kidd that wants to play for a contender

If Kidd was 28, it's highly unlikely he'd be available.

People keep talking about how important it is to add top-level talent (and I agree it is) but if you want a proven top-level player he is going to come with issues. I've talked about this many times. In Kidd's case, it's his age. If you think you're going to get Jason Kidd in the prime of his career traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, you're dreaming.

But like I said, I realize this idea has no chance of happening unfortunately. Instead, we'll be stuck with more youth and more hope that maybe some day somebody on the Bucks might be halfway as good as Kidd is now. I wish I had more faith in that approach but I don't.

I think people underestimate the sheer leadership and respect Kidd commands from the guys on his team. I have watched/read alot of things regarding Team USA, and it shocked me just how much guys like LeBron and Kobe acted as if he was some sort of God. I know the players are always nice about each other in interviews etc but I'd never quite seen anything like the way they were with Kidd.

Is that worth a bunch of draft picks and players? I don't know, but it sure as hell beats getting excited every time a player on this team shows any semblance of leadership ability.

I know...

And trust me, as someone who really wants a PG, I don't want Jason Kidd.. Well, I shouldn't say it like that.. But, if I had my choice, he wouldn't be the PG for me..

And LeBron worships this guy...
