I hope it happens. It would be nice to see the Lakers starting lineup full of stars, then suddenly implode, i.e. Lakers 2003.

That's the best thing I can hope for.

Hell I would rather trade Lamar to Chicago for Nocioni.

If the Lakers can land VC for Odom + they will be a much more better and dangerous team to stop and they will not be a much worse rebounding team if they lose odom VC holds is own and is a better play maker and always gets the double team.

Odom will be the PF for NJ and still suck but he fills a need.

Farmar will team with Williams to fill Kidd's role with young promising picks [Farmar is as good as young solid starting PG prospect there is]

And LA doesn't loose any flexiabilty. Lamar and Kidd expire the same time, Kidd won't opt out for 21 mil to play with Kobe and Gasol. And Fisher would be an amazing back-up spark.

Kidd/Fisher
Kobe
Ariza/Sasha
Gasol//VladRad
Bynum/Turiaf

That's a good mix of offfensive weapons and defenders. Next off season they should just sign some PG with speed to defend agaisnt the quicker ones. IDK who maybe a Damon Stoudimire or Boykins type.

There is a little thing called the luxury tax. Kidd's contract would kill LA financially.

Same goes for Carters.

Are you smoking crack that has to be a joke even with Cater playing **** he's still putting up 20.5ppg 5.5rebs, 5.1ast per game on a Nets team and your telling me a player that had played in the NBDL for a few is better off for the lakers what a joke hahah what a joke.

^^^ Narrow minded "fan" that only looks at "stats" and not needs.

Here are my reasons:

1. The Lakers are a top 3 scoring team even before they added Gasol. They don't need VC with his no heart scoring ass.

2. If they traded Farmar, who is going to play backup point gaurd? Who is going to be the scoring spark off the bench?

3. Defence. Enough said.

It is obvious the VC is a better player then Farmar, but on this Laker team, Farmar would be more valuable. No matter if VC is putting up 20,5,5. The Lakers don't need another 20,5,5 player. They need role players.

How do you suggest they trade someone who has a no trade clause?

Well if they are giving up both Odom and Farmer they will need that that extra 20, 5, 5 so that's not even a question. Having VC on this team will give them a player that can make plays for him self and others with Fisher still here I don't see them in a problem if they can gain Carter.

Carter can be a good defender when he wants to - and when you take into account that he won't have to carry the offensive load for the Lakers i'm pretty sure his defense would be more consistent. He HAS been an average/above average defender during his tenure as a Net better than Odom at the very least.

I don't think people realize how much attention VC warrants... Nearly every team goes into NJ looking to shut down Carter DESPITE the fact he isn't leading the team in scoring. He gets doubled everytime he takes the ball to the basket, he still has the best defender on the team on him night in and night out...

He's currently averaging 20 ppg because he's taking a career low amount of shots per game. (coincidentally RJ is taking a career high in shots per game) He is one of the best playmakers for his position - he CAN rebound (why are people even concentrating on the rebounding deficit when there are other 5+ rpg players in Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum)... He is more than willing to differ (use this year and his last year in TDot for examples of this). Contrary to popular belief he doesn't just hold the ball in one spot for 15 seconds ah la Mcgrady; he always does something with the ball as soon as he touches it, whether it be drive/shoot/pass.

He'd be an excellent fit for this Lakers team IMO. An upgrade for the Lakers in every way shape and form except for rebounding.

This team isn't like that other star studded Lakers team - we aren't talking about old player. Gasol is 27? Kobe is 29? Carter is 30? This team could last for a few years. He'd fit into the Triangle also....

Who do you double? Can you imagine a defense stopping Carter, Kobe, and Gasol?

Alot of the negative reaction to Carter is the COMPLETELY false negative stigma that surrounds him.

^nah no one wants to be a defender. Its the most boring part of the game when your in it. Only those who make a living on it can truely concentrate on it like battier and bowen. Only time i can see carter playing defense is when he is being challenged.

Is the rest of the league intentionally trying to make the Lakers unbeatable? They trade nothing for an all star, and they'd be trading a garbage Odom and a backup PG for another all star.

and if it was Kidd instead of Carter....

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

The Lakers should convince the Kings and trade Odom+filler for Artest. That's it.

well celtics will dominate the east for a while thanks to McHale. so i can see why they don't mind tanking for a while.

The Lakers just need a defender/3 pt. shooter at the 3, they don't need Carter's massive contract. I seriously doubt the Lakers trade Odom for an even bigger contract. They already have the core: Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol. Two 20/10 caliber bigs + Kobe?? That's like overkill already right there. The rest of the guys should just be good role players.
