I think that Artest in Denver would completely ruin the entire teams chemistry.

This has already been brought up lately before by the Sacbee ...

But yeah, overall I don't see it happening, or as much of a fit. I could definitely still see Ron going to a better playoff team, too, in the summer.

Ron certainly has a lot of appeal around the league with all these trade rumors in the last year. All of them being bogus or failed trades, though.

No, Carmelo Anthony and Ron Artest plays the same position. They're both not a perimeter player.

The fact they are both SF's is pretty irrelevant. Artest can guard virtually any 2, 3 or 4 in the NBA, and Melo can play the role of a PF on the offensive end without a problem.

I think Ron would fit in Denver very well for about 3 months (which is as long as he would be there)......he provides perimeter defense which is Denver's biggest concern right now, and a decent enough outside shot (and I would bet his percentages will improve with all the open looks he will get from AI/Melo double teams).

At the end of 3 months though, he'll be as good as gone. He wont be able to stand a tertiary offensive role.

 to the Patriot burns.

Artest wouldn't make sense in Denver because they need a guy who can both hit the outside jumper and D up medium-sized SGs to take the heat off AI/Melo. Artest is a true forward.

Im not undertanding the ' * ' people have been putting after the 18-1. Is it related to the cheating earlier in the season?

I also said the Nuggets need that defender to have a good outside game. Artest isn't at the top of my list of shooters. Besides, I always imagine that team having someone skinny at the two.

His jumpshot has improved since his 1st year in Sacramento significantly... He is actually a good perimeter player to say the least...

Artest is certainly a better shooter than Carter or Martin (who he would be taking minutes from).....and with all the open 3's he would see, I would have a hard time seeing him go below 35 percent. And you have to consider that its going to be either SG's or PF's trying to guard him on the perimeter. Either way is a favorable matchup for Artest.

Obviously he'd fit in nicely. They need that perimeter defender that can guard the Kobe, LeBron's of the league and he'd also be that third option that would keep defenses honest with a double on Melo or AI.

Sounds like a good fit to me. You could put he and Melo out there together and that would leave just about every F combo in the league scratching their heads as to how to stop them.

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/ron_artes ... stats.html

His career high aside from those tiny little injured spurts (the one in CHI and the one in IND, 27 and 7 games respectively) is .358 and his career average (including those spurts, as well as a bad spurt) is .324 from downtown. He's .347 so far this season. That's okay for a SF but not too hot for a SG in my books, especially if the attention-drawing factor of AI/Melo is to be used to its fullest extent. Not saying he wouldn't be good there, he'd be good anywhere by virtue of his defence alone, but imo Denver's main target should be a shooter.
