I will say VC is not playing the way he has the last 2 years in NJ, the new system is dumb and ran by the dumbest coach in the nba. VC is still putting up great numbers and he would know his roll is not to be the man in LA and would feed Kobe and the bigs as well as any player they would get - Jason kidd lol but he would fit in. He does not need to take as many shots as kobe like other superstars and would love to just fit in and make people around him better while still doing his scoring in the system it's proven. Let's face it the Lakers are nasty with him or with out him but Odom will not help this team as much as carter even though they should be great with out VC.

The Lakers are building up a good chemistry with the current team that they have. Plus the ball movement has been great.

I dont want to trade for a isolation type of a player like Vince. He likes to isolate and hold on to the ball to much. I dont like that style and i think it would ruin the chemistry.

LIES! Dont believe him!

LOL JP...

Back to the point... There are probably 20+ teams that can use VC, but unfortunately, Lakers is not one of them.

I'm not really sure what we're all arguing about. The point is that the Lakers already have their trio...Buss can't afford to pay for a 4th guy making Lamar Odom money by the time Bynum's new contract kicks in. Farmar has played great so far this year so why would LA trade him after they just chose him over Crittenton? I'm sure Vince Carter would be a better fit than Odom. The concern is the money Carter makes and that's too much to end up probably being a 4th option. The Lakers are serious championship contenders even if Odom gets injured for the season. That's why it's better to trade Odom for a good role player that can put the finishing touches to the lineup rather than go over the top trading for a "superstar".

If we were to get a shooter, I'd look for Mike Miller (MEM doesn't want Odom though, so it would have to be a 3-way) instead.

Carter is a good player, but I have questions about the fit. I don't have those same questions regarding any of the other players I mentioned in this post.

That sig is amazing, wow...

This is impossible unless Buss wants to make the Knicks salary roll look small.

Acquiring Vince Carter is one way to ruin the hope brought by Gasol for peanuts. Seriously, he's overrated and not even close to being worthy of that ridiculous contract signed back in the summer.

Lakers would be better off acquiring a perimeter shooter.

It would've been nice if they somehow got Mike Miller in that deal.

I think it's good for both teams. The Lakers are looking to win now and the Nets get a solid young pg for the future. I also think that Carter would accept the role of being a 2nd or 3rd option.

What happened to Marcus Williams? Is he still with the Nets?

Shawn Marion or Shane battier are the ideal SF for this roster.

This is such a dumb trade, coming from a sensible Laker fan. Nothing against Carter but he is just not a good fit. WHy would we give up the leader of our bench mob? Jordan is a large part of why our bench has been so sucessful. And Carter being 2nd or 3rd option doesnt make sense. If he indeed comes here with this pathetic trade, he at best would be the 4th option, with the top three of Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol (latter two exchangeable), or maybe even we will go to our two big guys first. Therefore not taking advantage of his talent. All the haters wish Lakers would make this trade but Mitch is not that dumb.

Again nothing against Carter but he would be just not be a good fit and we would lose an important member of the Bench Mob. People already doubting Lamar b/c of the acquisition of Pau, but IMO the best ball from Lamar has yet to be played. The less pressure he has on him, the better he plays. He has shown that when Bynum was healthy and dominating.

I've already responded to this in my original post. I have a question for you - when's the last time you actually watched Carter play?

Some of the misconceptions about his play is ridiculous. Most of them are coming from you.

Im from Jersey so I actually watch a lot of Net games and I was actually being a bit sarcastic. He's gotten better of late, but he still doesn't mesh with Kobe. Their games just don't mix, period. There really isn't a way to defend it. Nothing against VC, I actually like him, but the two just wouldn't mix.

Can the mods either lock this thread or move it to the trade forum? The deal being hear gives the appearance that this deal happened when obviously it didn't.

Lakers wouldn't trade Farmar after moving Crittendon anyway.

Two solid young pgs are better than one. Jason Kidd's days on the Nets are dwindling. He's not getting younger either.

Lakers will be stupid to pass on this trade... They don't need Carter to rebound like Lamar. (Carter is a above-average rebounder as guard however~)

Carter will enjoy being 2nd option (maybe not 2nd "scoring" option) in the Lakers, and that will be the first time in his career that he isn't the first scoring weapon. He has always been a "pass first" player, he will be a great team players which he always wants to be...

When Kobe goes to bench, Lakers have someone on the court that can handles the ball. (That's what Nets do with VC and 4 benches at 2nd quarters almost every game)
