Leaders in Shooters Above 40%

Post#1 » by Taiwan Killa » Tue Feb 5, 2008 5:17 am

I was looking at all the 3p%s in the NBA today and I counted them up. 2 teams have 4 shooters shooting .400 or better from behind the arc.

One of the teams is Toronto which shouldn't surprise anyone.

But the other team is the Lakers. Yup, the Lakers have Vujacic, Radmonovic, Fisher, and Farmar all shooting 40% on threes or higher. This is scary considering the Lakers now have 3 players that can get doubled at any time in the triangle offense. I think the Lakers are on their way to becoming the best offense in the leauge.

Raptors now have 5 because Bargnani is now at 40.1 %

But the Lakers do look dangerous...

i remember a couple weeks ago when raps shot 70%+ from 3pt and everyone was like "that'll never happen again" then a week later they put up another 70% 3pt bomb show.

PHOENIX:

Brian Skinner=100% :-D
Nash=46.9%
Banks=41.7%
Pike=40.0%

I know, the first and the last don't really count, but technically...

:rofl: Skinners the ****, Bargnani for Skinner?

Anyway Raptors still got 5 over 40%, I got a feeling Delfino is close too.

47% is damn impressive. Wasnt Steve Smith shooting like 51% a couple years ago on the spurs??

There's more to it than that for the Raptors:

51.0% - Jason Kapono
50.0% - Chris Bosh (2/4, cut me some slack :P)
49.2% - Anthony Parker
45.0% - Jose Calderon
44.7% - Juan Dixon
41.4% - Carlos Delfino
40.3% - Andrea Bargnani

It's a wonder that Jamario Moon would ever attempt a 3 with that roster.

Has a team ever had the top two 3-point shooters in the league before? Hopefully it remains that way until the end of the season.

I expected as much from Radman and Fisher but Farmar and Vujacic are a huge surprise. Farmar because his jumper was the weakest part of his game coming out of college and Vujacic because he's been a pre-game all-star forever and a lot of people thought he'd never amount to anything in this league.
If he continues to gain 15lbs every summer (insider joke for us laker fans) and gain confidence then he'll be one of the leagues best bench shooters in a few years. I love the fact that he gives 150% on defense even though he's a sloth footed 6'7 Euro PG and will never be a great defender.

Sasha Vujacic fan from day 1.

You can't get to the foul line shooting 3's so keep jacking them up never putting pressure on the opposing teams. Raps only shoot 20 Freethrows per game while the Lakers shoot 29.

Before people say this is because of Kobe, he gets 8.8 Attempts per game and Bosh gets 8.6 per game. The next highest player on the Raps gets 2.7 which is TJ Ford and after that is Bargs with 2.0 per game. Ford would be 7th on the Lakers and Bargs would be 9th.

3's are good and all but without toughness, putting pressure on teams and getting them into foul trouble, being able to make up for bad shooting nights by getting to the line you will never win anything.

The Raps also only take the 14th most 3 point attempts per game in the league.

ESPN Link

The Raps play at a slow pace, so you'd probably want to normalize both the 3 point attempts and free throw attempts, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Having 6 regular rotation players shooting over 40% from 3 isn't a bad thing.
