I was so mad at Jarrett when he turned the ball over. Then I realized... How did Jarrett get the ball? Oh yeah, he stripped an all star of it in the last 30 seconds of overtime. Before we get all over him, lets just remember that he was the reason that he had the ball in the first place. Outlaw... now thats a different story. But of course, he is "mr fourth quarter" I know that Jack has done things like that often throughout the year, so its different, but we do need to recognize what he did well

Roy and Outlaw can also be blamed for the loss. they couldnt hit shots when we had an opportunity to win.

this was a team loss.
It's true that it was a team loss but I signal out Jack because he made mistakes that could've been prevented. missing shots happens some times and nobody expects the players to be on fire all the time. But making good decisions should be a constant in this team and tonight it didn't happen when Jack had the ball in his hands.

Yea, look at his stats....the most glaring one is 7 to's and the last one that ended the game.

Personally, I was more impressed with his 12 rbs and 4 blocks than i was dissappointed with his 2/9 shooting

If we are gonna get on Jarret for his horrible decision making skills, let's not exclude Travis. There were a lot of factors that amounted to this loss, but in my mind its the absolutely horrendous mistakes that Jarret, Travis, and Nate for the last play call that were the most inexcusable.

Jack doesn't deserve all the blame, but he get's a large chunk because of a couple of major-league brain-farts.

He nearly had a quadruple double tonight

Yeah Jack did bring us back earlier in the game, but he had to make that flashy behind the back move. As a result, he lost the ball. That turnover definitely killed our momentum and gave the Nuggets the chance they needed.

Jack was a hero. But a tragic hero all in the same sequence. I really hope he beats himself up for this and actually begins to learn how to play better. Actually to tell you the truth, the first thing I immediately thought after this terrible, terrible move was how Jack was the hardest worker and earned the number 1 parking spot at the training facility. I want the guy to improve. And I think he can improve. I just want him to prove it to everyone.

But that being said, you could also blame Outlaw for missing his first free-throw or for our horrendous first quarter playing or for Nate's substitution or for Brandon Roy's "clutchness" not coming at the end. You could even blame the road trip or blame God or blame an accidental string of predetermined gravitational forces that threw the Blazers off. Hell, you can even blame Steve Javie or Mike Rice for their personal incidents 15 years ago.

But all in all, the Blazers killed themselves here. And everyone played a part in killing them while trying to stay alive at the same time. That's just the nature of a loss.

Jarret Jack and a couple of second rounders....which we already have plenty of.

We could just drop him and add Ha. Interior presence and rebounding problems solved.

this is only a tepid 'defense' of Jarret, but I remember the game in chicago...at the end of overtime in a very similar situation Jack pushed the ball up, made the basket, got fouled, and completed the 3 point play for the win.

He's been told his job is to be aggressive and attack the basket..we know that to be true and was even reported tonight as being Nate's primary directive.

That doesn't make what he did any less dumb, but it does to an extent explain his motivation.

Eh, that was the most exciting sporting event I've been to since Oregon beat Oklahoma. I love the Blazers and are proud of their season so far, but they are not a playoff team this year. Not in the West. They had a chance to prove their worth tonight and they couldn't quite get it done. Back to plan A, bolster the team in the offseason and come back with Oden.

I know we can talk about Outlaw's missed free throw or Webster hitting only 1 of 3 or Jack's @%^&ing turnovers, but I really think they lost this game in the final 5 seconds of the 3rd quarter. They were taking control and lost it.

That play in Chicago was good because he had a clear path to the hoop and took the ball straight to the basket.

Tonight's play was just stupid because he tried to do a behind the back pass on one on four fastbreak. Pretty much negates anything positive he did the rest of the game.

yeah, those last few seconds were bad.

But it was actually the last 3 mintes or so of the 3rd that were bad as well. My memory could be inaccurate, but I recall Nate starting to bring the white unit in and then switching to the zone defense. The result was about 6 or 7 consecutive possessions that Denver scored on. All of the scores coming off of drives into the paint from the baseline area. Nate is overusing the zone in my view and it cost the blazers tonight.

The entire first quarter cost them tonight and the 1:30 of the 4th was terrible for portland as well.

They did get some of the rhythym back in the 2nd half that's been missing for 8 games, just not enough.

I think it's still too early to discount making the playoffs guys. Its only slightly past halfway thru the season. Big win streaks happen

Also, in my mind Jack was trying to dribble behind his back, not pass it. His left hand went out to catch it from his right, but a mixture of factors led it astray.

As for the turnover from that play, I'd be fine with it (cuz it basically negated the steal) if A) It didn't allow them to take the last shot, or B) We were up so it basically took time off the clock. But neither of those were the case :(

I don't agree with that. It was a dumb play and he had several more. But he also had several good plays that got portland into a position to win. There was a ton of 'dumbness' out there on the blazer side tonight. Portland missed 3 free throws in the last 5:03 of the game...make any one of those and the blazers win. Brandon Roy forced up a couple of real wild shots at the end...that didn't help. The starters absolutely stunk it up in the 1st quarter. Martell did little outside of the 3rd Q. LMA missed a lot of easy shots and allowed a passel of offensive rebounds within 6 feet of himself. Travis made about 5 dumb plays. Channing gave the Nuggets 3 points at the end of the 3rd.

Points in the 1st quarter don't count anymore then points in overtime, and portland had too many terrible stretches and plays in this game to single out one for all the blame.

Jack is a great guard, but he has to learn how to play within himself and not let his overemotional tendencies dictate what he does in crunch situations. He needs to have more control over himself like Brandon Roy.

At this point I think alot of us need to reframe our expectations and hopes for this season. We're probably not better than Utah and Denver at it stands. We had a good run for awhile. If we can finish this season a couple games above 500 or only a few below this will have been a successful season. This team is crap right now and the West is too tough. Honestly, it feels like someone figured out how to beat us and sent a league-wide memo out to the rest of the NBA.
