Odom vs. Prince

Post#1 » by Taiwan Killa » Tue Feb 5, 2008 6:09 am

Prince gets 13/5/3 with great defense.

Odom gets 15/9/5 with average defense.

Who's better?

Prince is better. Stats don't tell you the whole story because Prince is one of the best defenders and he spaces the floor.

Odom is a better play maker, dribbler, and passer though.

Odom gets 15/9/5

No he doesn't, he's currently getting 13.2/9.4/3.1.

Odom is a solid player and gets ripped on unfairly on these boards, but even still I gotta go with Tayshaun. His offensive stats aren't fantastic, but that's largely because he plays on the Pistons - everyone shares the scoring load, and they play at a slow pace, so there's less scoring in general to go around. He is still a skilled offensive player, and a great defensive player.

I'd take Prince for the Lakers any day of the week.

It depends on what you want. Prince is a pure SF. Odom is SF/PF that can initiate the offense at times.

Prince looks good because he isn't asked to be the #2 option on the Pistons. They have Hamilton/Sheed/Billups before they even get to Prince. In fact I remember Prince complaining about his role in the offense.

Odom was excelling as the #3 option before Bynum went down. Now he has to adjust to being the 3rd or 4th option which might benefit him and make him appear better.......
I'm so tired of the typical......

Prince can play the 1, 2 and the 3.

Prince complaining about his role in the offense  as in give me the ball I want to be the man

Odom makes more bonehead mistakes on offense and defense in any 3 games than the 'Kid from Compton' makes in any given month.

I'm not dissing the Lakers or their fans but sometimes 'stats' don't tell the whole story.

I'll take Prince, but it's clear that Odom gets too much hate on these boards.
