We have to realize Miller's contract has much more value next year than this year.
We are not in a hurry to clear cap space, because we already have enough this summer (and we probably won't even get a superstar player for that money).
So Ed is right, wait and see.
This trade with Atlanta sucks, this is just a dream by an Atlanta fan. They should forbid guys like them to call themselves 'sportswriters'.

I'm with you. I hope it is just GM speak, I hope he isn't delusional like Billy King. This team needs an overhaul not a tweak.
With a tweak or two & keeping Miller they might become a playoff team but that shouldn't be the goal. The goal should be to become a roster that can contend for a Championship.
I think the best shot to build a Championship contender would be to get a ton of cap space and a top 3-5 pick in this draft. You do that by dumping guys like Miller,Evans for expirings.

If we make a deal with Atlanta and use Miller to basically acquire cap space, I would also want the Hawks to throw in Shelden Williams. At least we then have another PF to try to develop into a solid contributor as a contingency plan. I don't think we'd have a shot at Marvin Williams, but Williams can come in and play a bit and maybe blossom into something assuming we strike out in free agency.

Moving Miller is not like the Gasol trade. That was a trade where they had to move a player in order to save money and move the franchise in a new direction.
With Miller, we don't have to move him (since he expires next year) and we want to use him as a trade asset.
A more fair comparison would be Millers value as an expiring next year as compared to Kwame's value- who essentially netted Gasol
