Bosh and Bargs(our frontcourt)

Post#1 » by Denisaur9 » Tue Feb 5, 2008 4:12 pm

I dont kow about you guys, But I am really loving what I have been seeing the last few games with these two. Bosh and Bags and giving eachother great passes, looking for eachother, both scoring lots of points.

Some posted not to long ago that BArgs only plays good games if Bosh doesnt, and many have said these two cant co-exist, and I think over the last few games they have definetly proved that wrong, both scoring alot and shooting good percentages.

Im glad that BC was soo patient with him, I know and alot of others on this board knew what he was capable of and realized he needed some time to get his confidence back, and he is looking great now, driving to the net hitting open shots, even getting some rebounds, and what impresses me is he passing ability, both him and Bosh are great passers for Big men, and that makes them all the more dangerous imo.

Overall I am really happy with what Ive been seeing and it excites me of what these two are capable of together, I think we could have if they keep this up, one of these best frontcourt scoring tandems. Both can drive, both can shoot, and both can pass, they can cause alot of havoc for the opposing teams, and wih outside shooters like Parker and Kapono getting more open looks because of it.

I really hope they keep this up, and We will be sucessfull if they do.

Agreed, the only thing they have to work on is their spacing on defense. Too many times I see Bargnani on the same side as Bosh or just standing in the middle of nowhere.

Offensively, they looked great together in the last few games. I'm so excited to see them steamroll other teams with their double high-low threat.

However, and I have to be a d*ck about this, defensively, it leaves a lot to be desired. Bargs' late rotations are putting a lot of pressure on Bosh.

Rebounding-wise, they grab 24.9% of all misses, the worst rebounding frontcourt in the entire league. The next worst pairing is at 29%. However, if Bargnani's rebounding uptick in the last few games continues, it might not be an issue in the long run.

i think if they can manage to be an average rebounding frontcourt, we will be alright. few, if any teams, have the offensive punch of bosh and bargnani when they're hitting their shots. the passing is definitely impressive. the play that sticks out in my mind from yesterday was the pass from bargs in the high post to bosh down low for the dunk. just beautiful.

I just love the no look passes. Bargs throws them like the best of guards - it's nice to see that.

Its very true they both can work well together. Because both their games are very differnt. Bargniani has a 3 point aproach so to speak and Bosh has a isolate and take it to the hole or mid range game. Both can drive both are big but one does it more than the other.

Bargs with some more games can really become a presence he'll learn the lil ways around boxing people out and pushing:P for rebounds.

So far so good, now to get it done.

You dont have to sacrifice one for another.

Offensivly I don't see the problem. I mean it would be nice to have a dude like Howard, or Duncan down low but that's not going to happen lol.

Defensivly and rebounding I really don't know if it could work. Still going to wait, buit I have my doubts. I think they'll both be great players but don't know if they compliment each others games over all.

Just wondering, who's the second worse?

I think a lot of that might have to do with Moon. He just jumps right over the both of them sometimes and steals the boards, haha. I don't really mind who picks up the boards, so long as they are getting them.

Re: rebounding as a frontcourt unit - presuming Bosh gets an above-average share of rebounds, Bargs must be absolutely wretched. But I guess we knew that. Smitch should make him watch Rasho tapes when he gets burned on defense or on the glass. Rasho is no more than a 'decent' defending and rebounding big man, but he's consistent and if Bargs could approximate that type of performance by then end of the year we'd be in great shape.

The play from last night that NOBODY is talking about, was the high screen and roll with Bargs and Bosh, where Bargs bulleted a one handed pass, off the dribble, to Bosh for the dunk.

How effing scary is that Pick and Roll? holy ****!

The kid is a season and a half into his career learning the hardest position in the NBA to learn after being a 3/4 most of his career.

Of course he was going to struggle.

I have no doubt he will struggle again at some point and recover again, but at least for now we don't have bi-polar fans offering him to the Sixers for Sammy D.

Defensively, Bargnani still has a lot to learn, but I have been encouraged by the effort he seems to have put into improving his defensive game. I think he has the skills and body to be a solid man on man defender in the post, but as supersub pointed out, he still needs to work on his rotations.

But offensively, I think there is no question that they can work together, as we saw last year.

A lot has been said about our Raptors offense, but has anybody recognized that the past 5 games in which the Andrea has been playing, coincidentally, he has been playing exclusively the 4?

We've been playing Bosh at the 5 the stretches where Andrea plays well. This goes back to the good games that Andrea had earlier in the year where he was exclusively playing the 4. He has had to guard the centre and as an effect, hasn't had to anchor our defence. Rather, its Bosh that is playing the 5 right now and anchoring our defence. Thus, from what I've seen so far this year and last year, in order for Bargs to play well and Bosh to play well together, Bargs has to exclusively be the 4 and Bosh has the be the 5.

Don't people worry that this will have a huge toll on his body of the course of the rest of the season, if not in the future?

I honestly think Bargnani's one on one defence is pretty solid, he just has to learn not to pick up stupid leaning/reaching fouls.

I think one key thing is for Bosh and Smitch to realize that when Bargnani has got it going, that he has to become the focal point on offense. Bosh has to learn to play off the ball, you can see he has issues with it right now, cause quite frankly, how often does he have to do it?

Ya that was UNREAL!!! I too am surprised that not many have commented on it.

But the D was lost on that play. I see bigs having a very difficult time responding to that situation.

Also, I think that as Bosh and Bargs play with each other together more, over the course of the season, playoffs, and training camp, developing that familiarity and comfort with each other, they will be unreal.

Already that are a handful offensively, and they are just beginning to untap the potential there.

But also, with the continuity they will establish, they could end up being a force on both sides of the court.

It will be very exciting watching these two players grow and improve together. Great time to be a Raps fan!

Chris Webber is a great passer. Bosh and Brags are ok to good passers but they have not reached great.[/b]

I dont think it will be a problem because there arent that many true post scoring centers in the league and when Bosh is guarding them he plays a lot more help defense. I have noticed he has been really aggressive defensively in terms of blocking and altering shots this year and I think him playing the 5 in certain situations is th key to that. In most cases Bargs has been guarding the tougher of the one on one matchups this whether that be the 5 or the 4.
