Would you trade Larry Hughes + Damon Jones for Vince Carter?

Post#1 » by Bamboozled » Tue Feb 5, 2008 3:13 pm

I know that Vince Carter is a total $#!@, but he's really talented, and would probably give no effort on the Nets if Kidd was traded. But he's a proven 25ppg scorer with good 3 point range, and he appears to only be mopey when the team isn't winning.

And I personally think Lebron gives a team a substantially better chance to win than Kidd, so it's possible that the Cavs could accomplish more with Carter than NJ could. So I think it's worth it to jettison two guys who complain about their role for one guy who complains about his role, butg is able to score more than Hughes and Jones combined.

I hope you just read what you wrote. 1 bad contract, a guy who thinks he is the best shooter in the world, for an all star, more importantly Vince Carter? Regardless if he is having a bad year, the nets would never do this trade.

This trade is based more on the speculation that VC will immediately quit on the Nets once JKidd leaves. Also, Jones' and Hughes' contracts expire a year before Vinsanity's

I can't see NJ taking on Hughes, even though he's signed for 2 years less than Carter. An alternative deal that I could see happening is Drew Gooden, Shannon Brown & Eric Snow for Vince Carter & Malik Allen. This would save the Nets a boatload of money over the future, while adding a young PF and a young SG in the mix.

I'd do it, but how about adding in our other short contracts and Boobie for Kidd?

We CANNOT TRADE GIBSON!!!! He is WAY too valuable!!!!!

I'd take Vince in a second if we could get him for anyone except ( Drew,Z,LeBron,Gibson and Devin) I wouldn't include ANY of THOSE players in a trade for Vince. Vince is a F&%ked-up contract, and Thorn will trade him for a 1st and junk.

Vince would be DOMINANT next to LeBron!!!

I wouldn't trade any of those guys listed for VC, but for Kidd, I'd do it.

The Cavs are not going to give up Gibson. I can't understand why any of you think this team would be better with less outside shooting. it really doesn't work like that when you have LeBron. You need people to keep a team honest.

So you'd rather keep Boobie than get one of the best PGs in the game and a true sidekick for Lebron (who can shoot BTW)?

Kidd can shoot? Are you kidding me? Kidd is shooting .365 from the field this season. People bash Hughes religiously for shooting and he's still shooting at just a little worse than Kidd and Hughes takes fewer shots. Not that I wouldn't like Kidd, but I don't give up Gibson to get him unless I know that I've got some good shooters that I can get. Not to mention having Hughes and Kidd on the floor at the same time would be brutal for LeBron.

Kidd is a player, but he is clearly on the downside, has an enormous contract and he's going to cost way more than we can afford to pay.

I really think Kidd may be the least valuable of the big 3 in NJ. His stats are definitely on the decline, and I can't see more than 2-3 more All-Star caliber years left in him, and considering that Lebron is over 10 years younger than Kidd, I don't see giving up 2 or 3 starters just to let him finish off his career in Cleveland as a solid distributor who can't shoot. Remember that Kidd is an awful shooter.....

Larry hughes takes 11.1 shots a game, kidd takes 10.6... Not only that but HUGHES IS A SHOOTING GUARD, he's suppose to score more than kidd, which he doesnt.

And the reason why kidds shooting doesnt get as bad of a rep as hughes is because he does a lot more on the court than hughes has ever done.. 11,8,10 player being compared to hughes...thats just sad...

While kidd isnt the best shooter in the world, his game is much more than that. Lebrons numbers would sky rocket playing alongside kidd, not to mention goodens and pavlovic....

And no NJ will never take back hughes and jones for a VC(who's putting up 20,5,5 in a crappy year)....

I can't blame you for not wanting to take back Hughes, however the Cavs have limited assets in which to trade. IMO that is one of the reasons that the Cavs will not be getting Kidd. However, I don't really see LeBron numbers skyrocketing because of Kidd since his inability to shoot makes it just as easy (if not easier since Kidd and Hughes would likely get significant time together). All it really does is take some of the responsibility off of LeBron for running the team. It also helps the Cavs control tempo better than they do currently. I don't however see him seriously improving the team with his existing cost.

I meant VC can shoot (he's the sidekick I'm talking about). How about this deal:

Cavs also throw in 08 and 10 1st round picks.
