I'm enjoying the rose themed pictures tgp. Wiz take this one. we should move into 8th after this one.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Nice. I didn't even realize they were playing tonight. Way to cheer me up after waking up to a frustrating work email (i swear some manufacturers f**k up more than britney spears). Wiz take this one.

Andray Blatche- does he play good against other teams, or just against the Sixers?

I guess looking at his game log he has a high scoring game one out of every 6, and scores 6 or less otherwise. His only 20 pt game was against the Sixers.

Unclear if it is more inconsistant minutes or inconsistant player. Probably a combination of both.

He went off in the first game we had against them (26/8/4 assists and 1 block) but then he barely showed up 10 days later in the rematch (2/5/1 assist, 3 blocks and 4 turnovers).

Which Blatche will be seen tonight??

Blatche is a starter. The only thing that he needs to seriously work on is his stamina. I watched the game where he played 40 minutes against Utah and I can't recall the last time that I seen an NBA athlete so drenched in sweat. His skills and concentration were visibly eroded.

What surprised me the most about his game this time around was that he could bring the ball up the court and looked very good doing so. He fired a one handed pass across the court off of the dribble from behind the 3 point line down to the low post area to a wide open Oleksiy Pecherov who was surprised by the pass but should have kept his eye on the ball.

I think that Blatche will be every bit as good as Danny Manning even as early as next season. I'm willing to trade Iggy AKA Kendell Gill for a Danny Manning type PF...

He played well agains Utah. He also has 30 games with 6 or less points. He has gotten more than 2 assists exactly 3X this year.

He doesn't always get heavy minutes, but if you want to only look at his rare good games as proof of his potential I can show you some great games by Iguodla, Williams, Green and Burton...

You are talking about stats. I am talking about SKILLS. You are talking about perimeter players. I am talking about a big man. Let's cross paths somewhere in this dialog...

I would not mind if we had traded for Blatch to be a future option at PF of us.

Don't be surprised if Blatche is the next Stromile Swift.

Yes, Blatche has nice size and some good skills, but he's also dumb and a questionable character guy. From everything I have read on him, he's not the hardest worker either. Classic high risk/high reward type guy.

Why are we discussing him on the Sixers though? Why would Washington want to deal him when they just locked him up to a low $$ long term deal? They have Jamison entering FA and it's highly unlikely they would want to part with Blatche. I doubt they would move him unless they are getting a more proven big in return and we don't have anything that matches up.

Stromile and Blatche have nothing in common the comparison is laughable... Blatche is a skilled northeast Big man. Stromile is a freakishly athletic finisher from the south who never had any skills.

What kin of skills are demonstrated in a game whhere he scores 4 pts, grabs 2 boards and turns the ball over in 22 minutes. Stats can be decieving, but they also can serve as a proxy for how a guy plays.

Carney shoots 25% on jumpshots... and he lacks skill as a jumpshooter. Where is the problem?

I agree Blatche has some skills and might become a good player if he applies himself. Consistancy has been a big issue with him, and if you watched him night in and night out maybe you wouldne't need to see his statistics to realize this. You watched him play well against the Sixers and the Jazz- which complises about 1/4 of his good games this year.

I'm not comparing them based on style of game. I'm comparing them based on the fact they Stomile was a guy who has all this abilily and wasted opportunity after opportunity and never amounted to anything (except for an excellent game here and there). I could easily see Blatche doing the exact same thing due to his character issues.

I don't believe in "ability", I believe in skills. Stromile never had any of those...People were fooled by his dunking ability and his athletic ability while overlooking his lack of basketball skills...If Andray Blatche could pull off a sports center dunk every other game perhaps the Stromile fans of the world would adore him and his potential. I see the skills that Andray has along with his legit 6'10+ frame. His future development looks automatic. He's good for atleast 15 and 9 right now if he ever became a starter. In games where he's played 28+ minutes he's averaging 18.5 points 9.5 rebounds 3.16 blocks....

But believe me I do understand how certain kinds of people need to hear Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Mark Jackson, or Jeff Van Gundy talk about how good a young player is before they really believe it...Some people don't feel comfortable unless they arrive on the "late bus"...

By my count... that's only 5 games this season and none of the other 4 games topped the game he had against the Sixers. I'm with you in that I like Blatche and have said that I think he'll develop into an All-Star caliber PF... BUT let's not be so quick to rush to judgement on either side. He's an average NBA player right now but he's only 21. We don't have to make or break this guy right now so just breath in.... relax... and smile.

Since these games threads tend to also serve as "NBA Coast to Coast" threads... well, ESPN's John Hollinger and Ric Bucher are putting reports out that Tyrus Thomas may be available and moved before the deadline. I know the kid hasn't grown up yet but he has a ton of upside and could serve as the future athletic 4 for this team.

I'm not a big fan of him but he is an interesting... what are your thoughts on trading for this guy??
