Great, but you said that at least 5 players in the NBA averaged more than those three combined, which, if you look at your own numbers, is not true.

There is one: Steve Nash.

These are the top 5 players in assists per game. And some Magic fans can make their case saying Dooling is not a PG hes a SG. I for one counted him as a PG. but If you take out his stats Nelson and Arroyo are only averaging 9,3 assists together.

That's great and all, but personally, I think that's a dumb way to look at it, considering neither one has played starter minutes and they basically split time.

For example: Carlos and Jameer average 21.4 and 28.7 mpg, respectively, while the aforementioned five players average 31.7, 34.1, 36.8, 37.3, 37.4 mpg.

Considering they all play large enough minutes to give a fairly accurate measure of per minute stats, it would probably be much more fair for comparison.

Per 40 mpg (min 500):

1. Steve Nash - 13.8
2. Chris Paul - 11.6
3. Jason Kidd - 11.1
4. Jose Calderon 11.0
5. Deron Williams - 10.5
...
11. Jameer Nelson - 7.9
26. Carlos Arroyo - 6.8

Are Jameer and Carlos as good as the top 5 point guards in terms of assists? No, but they're not as bad as you make them out to be.

On a per-minute basis, Jameer is 11th best in the league, and Carlos is 26th.

Lastly, just for kicks...

People behind Jameer:

Luke Ridnour
Raymond Felton
Kirk Hinrich
LeBron James
Andre Miller
Devin Harris
Tony Parker
Dwayne Wade

And Arroyo:

Steve Blake
Chris Duhon
Antonio Daniels
Jason Williams
Delonte West
Brandon Roy
Rajon Rondo

Well when I wrote my first opinion I didnt look at stats first. But yes there would only be one Nash. But the other 4 are not that far behind. And the only reason I put these PGs in my opinion was to just get my point across, that we only need a PG who is willing to pass the ball more.

Still, "just" a PG is not enough.

Need some beef.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

How many top tier PGs are available?

For those that are, what would we have to give to get them?

There's a distinct difference between saying we need a top tier PG and the ability to attain one or to do so without ripping apart the team.
