Final Record Prediction...

Post#1 » by Bigmagicfan82 » Wed Feb 6, 2008 3:02 am

The other day I was looking at each of team and trying to predict their final record. To make the predictions I used the team win track( in other words how time does the team win on average when they play a game). Then used that to get to their final record. Please someone keep track of the thread so we can see how accurate the results are. Here were the results:

Magic edge out the 3rd seed against the surging Cavs because of their cupcake schedule and the fact that we always turn it on after all star break.

47 wins.

screw the rest of the teams, I retired doing that the year I picked the exact placement of every team in the playoffs that year -- in the beginning of the year.

So you expect about .500 ball from here out?

You project the Magic's worst case as better than the Wizards best.

So, you project the Magic to win the South East.

31-51.

There will be so much of a disruption created by all the talk surrounding the trade deadline that the coaching staff and front office will not be talking to each other by the time it has passed, and none of the players will talk with them either.

And matty boi, flying vee, magictreat, maginno, idunkonyou2, richboy and surely a few others who I have forgotten -- who all could be the same person based on their posts -- will have a huge party, screaming, "Yes! Yes! Coach Hill will be so proud. We destroyed them just as he wanted us to!"

At 62%, the Magic are on pace to win 51 games. As the tougher West-away games are out of the way, I can imagine a 60% winning rate.

50 wins and the South Eastern title!

I certainly think we could hit 50 wins. But there still are several things that could throw a monkey wrench in the works.

Yea yea, I did say 38 wins cause I was seeing a collapse like last year looming but SVG seems to have earned his money. Again this team reminds me so much of the 73-74 BUlls who played with 2 SF, Chet Walker and Bob Love and won 50 games but made an early exit in the playoffs. Staying put I see about 48 wins now, if by some shock a major trade was made I can see it going closer to 55.

so theres what 32 games left? .500 seems like a given considering the number of home games, which would put us at 47 wins. I say we do slightly better than .500 and will hit 50 wins.

Slightly better than 50% is 48 wins. For 50 wins, the Magic need near on 60%.

Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability
