Is it official?

The guys been out for a month and a half. This is a big risk for them.

Yeah, it's just pending a physical from what Yahoo is saying. What a deal for the Heat and Shaq. Phoenix I dunno...

Wow. Surely the Suns could have gotten better value for Marion right?

Well if Shaq has anything at all left in his tank, the trade will only make them that much better and imo lead them to a championship. But I'm very skeptical about it. I haven't seen any games of Shaq this season, but from what I've heard/read, the Suns just threw any chance they had of winning a championship out the window.

well they didn't really have any (chance of winning).

but shaq just takes them out of the elite status, imho. he's been horrible for over a year now...and is too old to recover.

Right on man, exactly what I was thinking. What were the Suns thinking?

Yeah, they said its for defensive purposes, but what kind of a defense will a 320 pound 35 year old can bring. He can block some shots but he can't play D even like Marion, it actually helps out Miami more than Phoenix.

If someone would take the Spurs out for them, they'd have as much a chance as anyone to win it all.

thats the thing though...who's taking out the spurs for them?
and then they'd still have to get through boston.
thus they didn't really have a chance barring major injuries to other teams.

And there's no way Shaq can keep up with the Suns' pace.

If you put it that way, no team outside of the Spurs and Boston (who I don't have reaching the finals) really has any chance of winning it all.

A side not: jmo, but I do actually agree with that. I don't have Boston making it to the Finals but I do have the Spurs winning it all. But my whole point in all this was the Suns are as likely as anybody outside the Spurs.

Forget keeping pace, he probably couldn't even give them a good 30 mpg.

But I've always felt the Suns would be a much better playoff team if they would play at a slower pace (even in the regular season to build cohesion, consistency, etc.). They have the players to be a very good half court team. So maybe now they'll try to slow it down a bit, who knows.

And I can only imagine how teams will abuse them with the pick and roll with both Shaq and Nash.

are the suns crazy? why do they want to trade somebody when they are the best team in the west. why do they trade for a center who isn't the player that he once was? a player who can not play more than 30 minutes anymore. they trade one of their best defenders and rebounders against a fat shaq who can't do what he wants anymore...

i can't understand this move. i think marion wanted this move. he wanted to be moved right before the season started. there's no other possibility

EDIT: a good move for the heat. they improved much with that trade. does anyone know if it were cap-reasons?

I kinda wonder if this actually was a good move for the Suns as it might make them more of a playoff style team able to slow things down a little at times. They will have to a little with shaq at center and Amare at the power forward (where he does belong). The big question is if Shaq can actually make a difference for them.

They could also get alot better value for Marion. Poor job there, they should get back more if they don't want to look completely idiotic for making the deal if Shaq doesn't deliver.

I'd really like to see this trade going down:

wade gets his pinky for brain (or was it batman+raobin?) and in combination with haslem its the perfect supporting duo for him...add a high draftpick and they may content soon again

as for phoenix: wow...I have to see mr. "cant stop a pick and roll" + mr. "whats helpside again?" play next to each other (without a real backup! they would average 11 fouls a night while oponents score 140 on them frequently (not saying the suns cant win nontheless)!

OT: Plz take a look at the link in my sig...there are only 2 slots open in the 08-fanatsy-draft (starting after the Allstargame) and it would be a pity if you would miss it!

i hope this move, puts pressure on the our front office to make some moves :D... delonte west please??

anyways... this move will either be boom or bust, and Kerr has really taken quite a gamble.

If Shaq stays healthy an the Suns slow down their game tempo and play to halfcourt offense, then they could be very good. I can't see them keeping the fast tempo offense, as then this trade makes no sense at all and Shaq can't and never had been able to play at that pace.

IF he gets injured all the time and misses a lot of games... then the Suns are basically screwed... and the Suns could end up slipping down the Western Standings and even possibly outside the 8.

But realistically, this is a horrible trade for the Suns.

I hope our front office doesn't do anything stupid like that.

OT: What happens to the game on March 8?? Shaq won't be available, and Marion and Banks shouldn't be allowed to play.

I like it...marion was their best parker-defender...shaq cant defend the pick and roll and the gamespeed will take a hit for the suns...not that I bothered about the suns but now I just love to meet them in the playoffs....as for miami: what better supportingduo than marion+haslem can wade dream of?...add a high draftpick and they are back on their way to contention!

OT: Plz take a look at the link in my sig...there are only 1 slot open in the 08-fanatsy-draft (starting after the Allstargame) and it would be a pity if you miss it!
