Hire John Lucas???

Post#1 » by Dino Nation » Wed Feb 6, 2008 5:25 am

I think Raps should. He seems like he could be a great asset to the organization. I really was interested in what he was saying during the last game. Make him a coach on the staff. Dallas has like 15 people on staff Raps can surely find room for another.

i don't think your going to find anyone that says no to this. from the way he was talking in his interview and the raptors love he was showing, i would not be surprised if he hangs around with the team similar to Gene Keady did. lucas though would be more involved considering his nba-level experience. is it just me or did his interview make anyone else feel as if something is in the works in regards to him saying he may be around the team for a while.

For what? To babysit Ford? No thanks. We only need a new head coach. That's it.

I'm of the opinion that you can never have too many assistant coaches. Well, as long as they are qualified and serve a purpose, which John Lucas certainly is and would.

If hiring an assistant coach for $500k (I have no idea what assistant coaches make, it's probably much less), means getting even a little bit more out of your $50-60 million dollar roster (which is subject to the rules and regulations of the salary cap, while coaching salaries are not), then why not have as many as you can?

Sure why not, doesn't hurt to have another assistant coach.

Isn't securing assistant coaches who are capable of taking over head coaching jobs part of BCs strategy. Cue the smokescreen threads :D

Why does John Lucas talk so funny? Im pretty sure that isnt his normal voice. Im pretty sure he can be part of the Raptors but Maurizio will not let it happen.

Well the fact that TJ has had to rehab so many times, means one time. He needs a coach that will let him learn to play smarter.

It will make the coaching staff better so it makes sense many nba teams have ex head coaches on staff if Sam wants to add Lucas no one will say no!

Lucas should give the point guards another perspective having him and Mitchell together should help TJ and Calderon, not that they need much help in the decision making process.

That is such an ignorant comment I really don't no no what more to say than that. John Lucas HAD a drug problem long ago. Since than he has turned his life around and been an inspiration to many.

I am pleased to see so many agree he would be an helpful. As for the other comment I read about him being a babysitter for Ford that is not quite as ignorant but it still is. Lucas has worked with Lebron James Kobe Bryant and a lot of the top draft choices every year to prepare them for life on and off the floor in the NBA he is much more than a babysitter he is a respected guy throughout the NBA

Wasnt called for. As for John Lucas I wouldnt mind him going on the coaching staff.. would really make me happy is if they got rid of our current head coach.
