I'm all for it..
this is how the NBA is going to become significant again..stacked teams at the top of the NBA..the West now has the Spurs(if healthy), a new Lakers team that should be dominant, a Suns team with Shaq, and the Mavs..not to mention all of the lower teams that will be competitive..
in the East, Detroit and Boston are going to be the main teams, but Cleveland and Lebron could easily come in to play..
the league is looking great..

Its just an effect of the new depth in the NBA, while new guys (like Chris Paul, Durant, etc.) come in, they are given the reigns to the franchise, which means the players who will retire within the next 3-5 years are traded to teams who can handle higher payrolls. Who knows if this is effect is permanent (meaning depth has finally caught up with expansion) or temporary (meaning we'll see some dud drafts, like 2000.

I think superstar teams isn't a fad at all. Its a fad to some but others remember the NBA during the 80's where you got teams like the Pistons, Celtics, Sixers, and Lakers with multiple all-stars. These teams were stacked with talent and all of them had atleast a championship during the 80's. I think ever since the Jordan era, many teams have been looking for that one superstar to carry them.

The league sure is looking great. Other than the major gap between the WC and the EC, the league is beginning to remind me of the early 90s teams that were stacked all across the board.
The Bulls of Jordan, Rodman, and Pippen
The Rockets of Olajuwon, Drexler, and Barkley
The Knicks of Ewing and Starks
The Jazz of Stockton and Malone
The Sonics of Payton and Kemp
The Magic with Shaq and Penny
Etc
The league has always been exciting to me, but man it's getting better and better.

Boston or Detroit will have a good shot in the finals, especially after the west battles that will take place in the playoffs.
yeah, just those 2 teams are allowed in from the east though. trade kwame for dwight, diop for kidd, and kenny thomas for lebron and then the rest of the EC-boston-detroit can form their own league.
