I'd really like to see this trade going down:
wade gets his pinky for brain (or was it batman+raobin?) and in combination with haslem its the perfect supporting duo for him...add a high draftpick and they may content soon again
as for phoenix: wow...I have to see mr. "cant stop a pick and roll" + mr. "whats helpside again?" play next to each other (without a real backup! they would average 11 fouls a night while oponents score 140 on them frequently (not saying the suns cant win nontheless)!
OT: Plz take a look at the link in my sig...there are only 2 slots open in the 08-fanatsy-draft (starting after the Allstargame) and it would be a pity if you would miss it!

So much for Shaq finishing with the heat.
and how they hell can they fastbreak with Shaq? I don't get it...I wonder how happy Shawn Marion will be lol.

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

I think we'd beat them and Washington would beat them twice still.

Look, I can see I am not going to change your mind. I just would hate to bring in Andre Miller and become the fifth team he has played on and the fourth not to make the playoffs. Two teams is one thing. Four teams is a lot.
first, we signed Rashard Lewis to a max contract this season, when we were overloaded at SF as it was. we didn't have a strong SG, PG or PF, and we still don't. we took the best player at the time that would give us the biggest overall upgrade (plus fit the system we wanted to run). the AI for Miller trade is exactly the same.
second, you're right that you won't change my mind and that we'll have to agree to disagree, but i think that while you're trying to hammer home the point that Miller has been on 3 unsuccessful teams out of the 4 teams he's been on, you're neglecting the point i'm trying to make.
Cleveland didn't have talent. Iverson on that team couldn't have made it compete.
the Clippers had boatloads of talent (nice pun huh
) but still couldn't win. you can't pin that on Miller because Brand, Odom, Maggette, Dooling etc were all on the same team and are still obviously considered successful in your mind. yet, none of them succeeded at the time.
Philly is purposefully trying to fail. Nobody could be successful on that team.
finally, i don't think Miller is the greatest PG by any stretch, but i think:
-he's got talent
-he's an upgrade over our current PGs by 100%
-he's shown before he could play well in a similar system to what we run now (despite his team not being successful due to no talent whatsoever)
what's negative about that?
as for proposed deals, i don't see anything coming myself. but as far as hypothetical trades go, i think this one's realistic and a great fit for our team.

Let's stop this talk of Andre Miller being a pure PG, We saw first hand he chucks up alot of shots, some say it's because he must...he did the same things with Denver, he has no outside shot.
Would he be an upgrade? Absolutely but it all depends on the price for me.
I think PF is far more pressing, if we rebounded better we'd probably have 3 or 4 more wins right now IMO.
And Marion and Wade together...damn that's a good combo, add Beasley or Rose and the Heat are back just like that.
the suns...lol, hard read right now.

one question that keeps bugging me is, how will the heat and hawks do their game replay...the one with 51 seconds left...shaq was the one with 5 fouls and is the reason they will replay...i hope they just give the heat a loss and move on...im enjoying every part of their miserable season and im hoping it continues...by the way phoenix got robbed...shaq is horrible and will get tired 3 trips down the court

Are you kidding me? What is with all of the BS lopsided trades going down this year? I thought Gasol to LA was bad, however Shaq for Marion?! It rivals the Gasol trade!
Am I the only one who thinks this is utterly ridiculous?! It's so terrible the NBA should launch investigations into trades like this, I don't see how this helps Phoenix at all. You're Run n' Gun ..and you want to bring in Shaq, with his hip problems and overweight problems, and he is AGING? I give up on the NBA, Orlando had better package their expirings/player for Brand or Kidd or something.

Wow...
I hadn't thought of that. That's a good question, and I'm curious to find out what the answer is.
If I had to make an off-the-cuff guess, I'd say they still play it, but Marion isn't eligible.

I guess I'm seeing this a lot different from some of you.
For example, when I started reading responses about how it was so lopsided, until I got further in, I didn't know who it was supposedly lopsided in favor of.
I think I could easily make a case either way.

Steve Kerr has some balls that's for sure.
But this trade could make the Suns a legit Finals team because they can still run with Shaq trailing way behind since they still plan to go to Nash and Amare for offense. They want Shaq to be that big defensive presence that can slide Amare over to PF.
I'm surprised Riley didn't hold out for a bit more considering how inexperienced Kerr is in the front office.
Marion, Wade and Haslem could potentially be a scary threesome but not this season.

During the telecast of the Magic game after the league's ruling to replay the last seconds, Matty was saying how this happened before.
However, the two teams had made trades with each other before the replay. So you had a couple players that appeared in both team's boxscores.

Also what happens to the All Star voting. Shaq is now an All Star Center in the West and Marion is a F in the East. Does that now leave an opening for Hedo? Just wait until Kidd goes to the West and screws up the All Star PG position. LOL
David Stern is right now dealing with one Hell of an Excedrin Headache.

Really?
So if I follow correctly, they'd still play it and Marion is eligible?
(Assuming of course they follow that precedent.)

No it doesn't. Nothing will rival the Gasol trade,
unless we trade arroyo, pat, dooling + draft picks for Wade.
Only then will it be a rival to the Pau trade.
This is a good trade, for Miami. Not so much for the Suns.
A good trade nonetheless. Shaq, baring injuries, is still one of the best players in the league. I also don't rate Marion that high. Shaq has still 3 seasons left on his contract, while Miami will benefit from the fact that Marion's contract is expiring next year. I don't think both will benefit too much from this, Miami should have just tanked this season. But other then that it'll make Miami a better team. If Shaq can stay away from injuries, they might be a bit better but honestly, it's not a good trade for the Suns, Amare + Shaq, not really a match made in heaven, neither have an outside J, how is that going to work ? Ah well.

The game mhec is talking about happened in the 70s I think. The game needed to be finished and before the game was replayed the same two teams traded four players for four players so during the game 4 players from each team were actually playing for the opposite team.
In the Heat case a new player not involved in the original game is now on the team. Interesting dilema.
