Amare and Shaq together.....could work, i don't know, but I know one thing for sure they'll both be in foul trouble by quarter time.
But to all the Suns fans freaking out, I say give the big fella a chance. Marion isn't that good, so relax. How many times has the Matrix come up small in the playoffs?

Raps fan... just wondering how you guys think the Suns will need to change their offense up to accommodate Shaq? Can he keep up?
Nash will definitely give him some easy looks, and it's scary to have Amare at the 4 as well... but still, Shaq is old and slow!

Shaq for Marion and Banks.
Shaq is about to retire and Miami and Phoenix are helping for it.
Pat Riley is laughing at Steve Kerr. Imagine what he is thinking.
Steve Kerr this better work out or your job it on the line.
I say Phoenix trys Shaq for the playoffs and then if it doesn't work out
they try to try him this summer. But what a big gamble if they get stuck with his contract for full term.
Impatience leads to a broken bank. They probably a good FA this summer.
Shaq just wants to get paid. Sell more Jerseys
Who knows maybe shaq jersey's, ticket sales rise will help make up for the contract.

Cash wrote:Wow, what a great deal for the Suns!! Finally, the 36-year-old, injured, immobile, fat, fat, fat center we've been looking for! This is a move the Suns had to make. After our division rival grabbed one of the best big men in the game for essentially nothing, we had to answer. And let's face it, getting Shaq certainly trumps the Warriors' acquisition of Chris Webber.
I don't think the Suns are done dealing yet. There are still some big names out there that could help this team. Now that Banks has been dealt, we need a new backup PG, and who better than GARY PAYTON?! He's available and you know he'd be psyched to come here! Then, for some big-man depth, let's sign SHAWN KEMP! Yes!!!! Payton, Kemp, & Shaq on the same team? OMG SUNS WILL NEVAH LOSE!!!!!!! 82-0 HERE WE COME!!!
But wait: I sense some of you are worried about the future. After all, Amare will now be our only starter under 30. Luckily this franchise has been stockpiling draft picks for years, so the future is very bright. I've heard a lot about Atlanta's draft pick is probably going to be in the top 5, so that should turn into a VERY good player, maybe someone along the lines of Chris Mullin (if only the Warriors hadn't locked him up as GM -- he'd be the PERFECT complement to Kemp & Shaq down low). Don't worry Suns fans, I expect our current core to be able to contend AT LEAST through 2005, and once those draft picks start developing, it's dynasty time!!!!!!!!!!
im seriously cackling in public. this post is so good it almost makes this shithole trade worth it.

Seems like most don't feel this way but I think this could work. Shaq isn't good enough to carry a team anymore. That's what Riley was asking him to do, especially with Dwade's injuries. The entire d could focus on Shaq and Wade in Miami. Nobody else can score on that team. They have no shooters. They have nobody to score inside except Shaq. They have no pg to get guys the ball in their spots. Seriously, all you had to do was help on Wade, make him take contested jumpers from the perimeter or drive out of control into a double team. Shaq could be defended with a big and help easily without fear of perimeter players making shots. You do that against PHX and they will hit 20 3's on you.
The fast break isn't 5 on 5. Usually the inbounder doesn't even participate. Off of a miss Shaq can box out for teammates or grab the board himself. Goodbye offensive rebounds for the other team. In the 1/2 court we will probably run less screen-roll and more post and cut. Do you know how hard it is to get around a Shaq screen. Guys like Steve, Raja, and LB have been missing those KT screens. Try a guy who is twice as wide and 100lbs heavier than KT jarring your bones.
The Suns training staff have already had success with other players who had been given up on. McDyess was on the verge of retirement after multiple knee surguries. The Knicks training staff had done more damage than good. He came to PHX and within 1/2 season he was a productive player again. Look at Grant Hill. He has marvelled in the approach that trainers in PHX take. They have the best staff in the NBA. Give them the rest of the year with Shaq and this summer and you will hardly recognize him.
Shaq has never played with a pg 1/2 as good as Nash. Steve will get him the ball where he wants it every time. I bet his offensive fouls will go way down because he can just turn and dunk or lay it in.
Shaq knows his limitations at this point in his career. He only needs to play 24-30 minutes to give us the inside help we have been lacking. Give MD a chance to make it all work. He'll figure it out.

oh this is def great for shaq. its not so hard to jog up and down the court a few times after inbounding. esp considering phx's practices and practice schedule are reputed to be among the easiest in th eleague on players..im sure it will be less work overall for him here than in miami.
its just not GREAT for the suns. it could work. but its still not the news you want to hear on KTAR in the morning

Do you seriously believe Denver would have handed you Camby?
hypotheticlly, Marion is a good player. Would Denver have done it - probably not.
Would Philly trade Dalembert for Marion, well they have Iggy who plays the same position as Marion, but Marion could slide up to PF, he's done it before. I think Philly wins that trade and they consider it. That would have been even worse for Phoenix. Shaq can do so much more than Dalembert - even at 36.
Okafor is too young too much a part of his team, that would never happen. (Same could be said about Camby)
It would be fun to see Camby on Phoenix, but I agree. I don't think Denver's trading Camby for Marion.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!
As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

As a warriors fan, I really don't think its that bad of a trade. This is something the suns org. felt they really needed to do. Do you really think an AMARE could continue to guard the west bigs while a undersized marion at PF could really continue out in the west. Especially with LA getting help from J.West in getting PAU for garbage, you needed something to counteract that. I'll take a shaq at 40% than a shawn marks or brian skinner any day. At least an injured or slowed shaq can still command double teams, rebound , block some shots and still INTIMIDATE players. Shaq can still affect a game for his teams benefit. Just my thought , I'm not infavor of Suns nor Heat.

Exactly. Do you see a spur trying a cheap shot a-la horry when shaq is on the other team? Their next trip to the paint will be their last for the series...

Why not do another trade? We'd lose Amare but we get better overall and deeper. Maybe something like this.
Suns Trade: Amare/Tucker/Strawberry/Atl pick
Bobcats Trade: Wallace/Emeka/McGinnis
Depth:
Nash/McGinnis
Bell/Barbosa
Wallace/Hill
Emeka/Diaw
Shaq/Skinner
We get Emeka to play next to Shaq. Emeka is a 13/10 guy and Wallace is a 22/6/4 guy plus we get a vet back-up for Nash. The reasoning that the Suns traded Marion instead of Amare was age and confidence in his team. Marion has wanted out and was causing chemistry problems. With that, the Suns get the Marion replacement in Wallace and they get the Amare light replacement in Emeka.

this is the second biggest trade in suns history, getting shaq is amazing, will miss marion, but also am relieved alittle with his departure.
shaq = championships, he will bring us one, i quarantee it, i can already see him going 125% to try to be the lakers, this is un-real fellas, and we get rid of banks? doesnt get any better than this, amare going back to PF also. kerr exec. of year with this move.
also who knows what the real trade is, i hope we get haslim from them also, or a point guard, that white point guard guy isnt that bad, i cant remember his name from them.
