OT: Shaq Traded to Phoenix
Ric Bucher of ESPN reports Shaq is flying to Phoenix and if he passes the physical he will be dealt for Marion and Banks.
Not a good trade for Phoenix at all IMO.

I agree MD. That's what I posted in the other thread too. I like the trade a lot for the Heat and while it is a huge gamble for the Suns at least they're being aggressive. And I'll post again what I posted in the other thread - if this works out for the Suns, Steve Kerr should send Herb Kohl a Christmas Card for the rest of his life for turning down the Marion for Yi offer the Suns made on draft night.
Nothing will not break me.

Not sure why the Suns do this, but at least they're doing something.
Our biggest move is to bring up a Sessions who then breaks his hand.
The Bucks front office just sucks!

I am calling conspiracy.
David Stern is positioning the teams in the NBA to have the highest rated playoffs and finals in the history of the game.
Maybe I've had too much coffee but hear me out.
KG gets gifted to the Celtics. A franchise renewed is now a contender for the title.
Old Eastern Conference Rivals Pistons vs Celtics are favorites to match up in the east.
David Stern gets a top tier marketable player back in the playoffs
Pau Gasol gets handed to the Lakers in a business only deal that leaves the Grizzlies attractive for a buyer (especially with Sterns support for a move) and the Lakers are now contenders once again.
Now the Suns are looking to jump in the mix with the addition of Shaq.
The Western Conference will come down to either Shaq vs Kobe in a Phoenix vs LA rematch....Shaq vs Duncan....Shaq vs Dirk....
In the finals it will be either Shaq and the Suns vs KG and the Celtics or you will have the storied rivalry of the Lakers vs Celtics once again......
Or if Duncan or Dirk come out of the west and KG comes out of the East it will still be highly touted and a great matchup.
Either way, I think the playoffs this year will be the best they've been in quite some time.

A team takes a gamble so they can win it all, rather than hold on to a player just to stay status quo?
Isn't that, what we have been asking our GM to do?
Be aggressive, shake things up........do what it takes to get a ring. It's what Miami did.
Only thing is Shaq called out Nash for the back to back MVP's saying he didn't deserve it........I wonder what he will say now.
Shaq could get himself back in shape just to win another ring with another team, especially if he could end up beating LA to get there. Of course then he would fall back to old habits, but it is worth it for PHX who has been so close so many times.

This is really cool. I was bored to tears with the Suns and Spurs the last year. I get tired of watching those same guys year after year. If Shaq gets in shape, he could make a difference in the playoffs.
Shaq might be done though....just physically done. Still, his name and leadership will really help Phoenix. Suns have a lot of old guys....their window is now.
Great gamble trade by Kerr.

Might as well drop the NBA down to 12-16 teams.EastSideBucksFan wrote:I am calling conspiracy.

I posted this in the other Shaq thread but I can't think of another player who is generally regarded as one of the Top 10-15 players of all time who has been traded twice. I think Shaq's the only one.

Great move by the Heat even if Marion doesn't resign. If not they get cap room and will sign another star. That's what good franchises do. Now they can rest Wade and Marion while they tank and come back strong next year. Maybe Riley can take the rest of the season off to recover from his surgery
Time for Denver, Utah, Dallas, or Cleveland to step up and trade for Redd

I certainly wouldn't be dancing in the streets or bestowing a bunch of praise on Hammond though.
It's like taking three huge dumps on your kitchen floor, then cleaning up one of them.

Something else to remember here when it comes to Shaq fitting into the Suns' up-tempo style: Arguably the greatest fastbreak team in NBA history was the Showtime Lakers with Magic at the helm. Those teams had a center who rarely got past half court during fast breaks. So you don't need all five guys flying up and down the court in order to maintain a breakneck pace. Shaq can rebound, outlet to Nash and let him run. If nothing develops on the break, then slow it down, let Shaq join the group and run a half-court set.
Just like the Lakers used to do with Kareem.
