OT - Charlie V. Stats

Post#81 » by rapz**7** » Wed Feb 6, 2008 7:54 am

Didnt see the game, but for those of you who claimed he was soft look at his stats without sharing pt with Yi.

31 Min 16 pts 15 Treb

Looks like he's trying to show his value for a trade.

BTW The buck won that game.

Was Yi a DNPCD or he had an injury? If it was a DNPCD I bet the chinese officials sent a sniper for the Milwaukee coach.

I think he has a shoulder problem suffered from the Houston game.

I don't think the raptors are a realistic option for him; but I really think CV31 is destined to be dealt before the trade deadline or at the end of this year (the situation in Milwaukee just sounds to poisonous) whoever gets him could pick up a nice player, whose value is low right now. If I were Memphis this is a guy I would be targeting they really need a PF Rudy Ray should not be playing it for them, although they be hoping to land M. Beasely in the lottery.
In 2006, Orlando reported 42,300 violent crimes including 49 murders, a record number since 36 in 1982. Crime in Orlando has been up 329% since 2006.

Oh my... I would not miss a single second of Raptor basketball if Charlie was traded back here. I will quit my non-existant job, if Charlie comes back to the Raptors.

Seriously though, hes not a bad rebounder.. which is our only issue. Defense? We play good defense (other than at the point but now TJ is back).

Im sure we can get him for Humphries straight up. Humphries is great but he has nowhere near the amount of potential or versatility CV has. Plus we know Bosh loves to play with him.

Charlie is a stat Man. He is like marion on a bad night, who can put up great stats on occasion but can't play a lick of defense.

His bricked 3's from the top of the arc are the worst because

-not only is it a missed brick
-but the defense ALWAYS gets the bucket for an easy fast break.

His Defense is still SO BAD, that his offensive hustle still isn't worth it.

Welll if his defense can pick up.....its' the 3rd year already....would be a nice bench player for the raps

Merging this with other Charlie thread. This looks like it will be a busy day and we should keep the clutter to a minimum.

Charlie gets a bad rap.

Sure he may not be the most gifted defensive player, but that's probably more to do with the fact that he's a tweener, his body type is such that he really has no position where he fits in perfectly, thus he may struggle with certain players, and others he will play well against.

To me he is the perfect example of a player who gets labeled early, and it just gets stuck with him.

He admitted to being lazy early in his college career, due to his immense talent, he thought he could coast, but Jim Calhoun set him straight at UConn, to the point where Calhoun would always sing his praises, and say how much his effort and attitude had improved his final year there.

As far as his lack of defence here, I question that. To single out ALMOST ANY player here the last few years for a lack of defensive awareness and effort is unfair, due to our lousy team defence period, plus he was playing out of his natural position and playing sf mainly, where he was having problems with the quicker sf's in the league.

Last year he had injury troubles, to which he is fully recovering now, and now he is caught up in this political BS so his effectiveness has been limited, but Charlie just has an innate talent and a nose for the ball you just can't teach, and needless to say I would love to have him back here to play in some capacity. If not here then somewhere else so he can flourish and become the player I believe he could become if given the oppurtunity.

On a side note, it's really annoying how players/people get labeled so early on in their careers and life, and as you struggle to learn the ropes, so many are eager to throw you away with the bathwater before you have a chance to grow and learn the ropes, and improve [see Bargnani this season]. Few guys get it together immediately, most take time no matter the draft position to 'get it'.

"Nose for the ball"

It's not like CV is some dominant rebounder. He's decent, but you know, Hump is probably marginally better.

I hear what you're saying about people labelling CV as a "bust" of some sort, but the truth is, there are far better players out there to get than CV. For example, Lamar Odom-- and I don't even think he'd be a good fit here. CV is kind of like a poor man's version of Odom so he'd be even less effective.

CV has proved he is an inconsistent commodity his whole career..

which, might I add, has been longer than Bargs.

Yah, one whole year longer. Bargs has definitely proven to be reliable though, what with his stellar performance all year. Whatever helps you sleep at night bud.

You can't really include last year as he was injured most of the time. Pre-injury, he was 18/8 guy for them. Which was pretty good. This year, he is battling with the Chinese Political Machine, which even the NBA can't compete with. He can't be consistent if he knows that there's a sword hanging on his head continuously and he has to watch out for his coach yanking him no matter what. So when he's only the floor, he's jacking up shots and rushing everything to somehow put on the numbers to keep his trade value somewhat relevant. And Milwaukee's offence really is a free for all, everyone's looking for theirs. There's bound to be inconsistency in there.

Just imagine, we complain that our PG's are not creating shots for Bargz and all. Its much much much worst than that for CV where he usually forces his own shots cuz the PG's don't create anything for him

They have a lot of young bigs, and if you are a team that is tanking you may as well play the kids.
