Bennett Having Second Thoughts?

Post#1 » by D5150 » Wed Feb 6, 2008 2:30 pm

From the news tribune:

http://blogs.thenewstribune.com/sonics/ ... rts_sonics

if the sonics lose the court battle and the team if forced to stay in seattle for the next two years, bennet might be inclined to sell.
so please, someone start puting together a new ownership group made up of LOCAL investors. im in for about a grand.
Don't act like you're not impressed.

Don't you love spin? Clay is now positioning himself as the martyr in a process he started. What a crock.

yeah i read the rest of that too. but think about it dick, taken as a whole this sounds like a guy who is a little torn. i think he is certainly frustrated with what has happed so far and i think he is having a little buyers remorse. what this looks like to me is that he is already looking to give himself a reason to bail. i think the court decision could really tip the ballance in more ways than one.

i dont think that will cover it. what does he make, 12 or 13 mil per? 5 grand might buy you 2 minutes.

I'll go buy some lottery tickets; maybe I can win enough to buy the team (or to buy a house on the eastside...about the same cost). My salary from the state certainly won't cut it for either.

It would be great if Bennett bailed and someone local took over. Seattle needs to have the Sonics (despite what Nick Lacotta thinks).
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

^No one really cares what Nick Licata thinks.

And by the way, the hubby just got a salary increase, so I'll be happy to put about $5,000 down in the "buy the Sonics" pool. And no, I haven't asked for his blessing either. :)

I'm in Vancouver, WA, closer to Portland than Seattle, and honestly don't follow much of the Sonics down here. However, if they leave, it will really ruin part of the image of the NBA that I've grown up watching (does that make sense? I'm tired)

I've only gone to one game in Key Arena, and no, it wasn't the best place ever. However, that alone isn't a good enough reason to move the whole franchise to the new owner's home town...thats just an obvious scape goat to fulfill his childhood fantasy.

I really do hope he sells. Since Paul Allen owns the Blazers, I doubt he'd be able to ethically own the Sonics, but maybe he could get his good buddy he used to work with to buy them 8)

Best of luck guys, hope you don't go anywhere.
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.
