A Sad Day For Basketball

Post#1 » by |||-Abaddon-||| » Wed Feb 6, 2008 7:50 pm

Shaquille O'Neal -- the greatest player since the Jordan era is being reduced to trade piece.

In many ways this represents our sad lives, how we all start our lives strong and immature, to mature and somewhat successful to old and degraded to a crappy retirement home.

Shaq is my childhood hero, a classic American athlete -- to see him reduced to this heart-wrenching!

No matter how many people might not like Shaqulle, he has always embodied a classic, bigger than life athlete who was respected for what he did best!

Long live Shaq's legacy, to me, a great person and athlete, one whom I loved to follow since the tender age of 6.

Both Ewing (To Seattle) and Olajuwon (To Toronto) both got used as fodder in their latter years as well.

he's declining so it's no wonder he's only a trade piece by now

Im not sure whats the point of this thread. Shaq is probably thrilled he is leaving the Heat and going to a contender. Shaq is probably flaterred that PHX traded for him.

hahahahaha

I dont feel bad for Shaq. Hes the one who is lazy and only gets in shape or has surgery on company time. Shaq had been blessed to dominate and if put in any off season work we'd be debating over whthere he was better then Wilt.

Shaq killed it for himself.

Shaq was excellent, and is still so in a way or two. He's a legend.

I agree with the op, it's sad how ungrateful some Heat fans are.

oh be quiet. you always find a backhanded respoonse. the Heat could cure cancer and you would find a backhanded response to it. Like ofh they had no choice because Davis/Wade cause cancer to teams.

Im sure if I search I will find you degrading Shaq within a week of your last posts.

Also to the op.

Life is grand. Growing old isnt always a bad thing. Look at Hugh Hefner and Sean Connerry.

As far as athletes are concerned they know their time is ticking away. Being in the sports eye is only good for so long. After a while if you dont produce no one cares.

Shaq had his time and now has to focus on the second stage of his life. For the rest of his career, he will be chasing rings until a team decides hes not worth the money.

Shaq has always been about the money and status. I really dont feel bad for him.

What the heck are you talking about?

I have never said anything negative about Shaq. Who said Wade or Davis cause cancer? I guess all that losing is getting to you.

again your statement wouldve been better if you left it at I never said any of those things. You went further however and added your backhanded response 'I guess all that losing is getting to you'.

I think all heat fans know you are a Heat hater so dont try it.

Wizards are a decent team with good talent(Arenas, Butler, jamison). The young players have their nights but are too inconsistent(Mason, Stevenson(not so young), Blatche, and Nick Young). Theyve done an impressive job in staying a float with the injury to Arenas.

They shouldve had the game in hand last night if Caron didnt go out with the injury. I think even with Caron out of the lineup the Wiz have a good enough cast to remain in the playoff chase until both Arenas and Butler return.

edit --- Haywood is having a good season as well.

ridiculous. I and all of my die-hard Heat fan buddies (all 32 of them) have nothing but respect and gratitude for what Shaquille O'neal brought to the Heat and the city of Miami.

And even on the Heat board here, I would say most are truly grateful for Shaq did.

What are you then? All you do is talk crap about the Heat and Wade. It's pretty sad.
