Nash has a team option for 13 million
Shaq's contract expires
Raja's contract expires
...........altogether 38 million between all those players could come off the books ....... gives you a lot to think about.

One of the reasons why I haven't crapped on this trade is because of how the deal would play out long term. If we didn't want to extend Marion because he did in fact want 20 million/year over the max term, we probably would have signed/traded him anyway. And I'm assuming he'd want to go to a team with a championship shot, so our options might've been limited.
The other factor of the equation is what if Shaq likes it here, and gets extended for significantly less money. Then we'd have some much needed center depth for the next 4 seasons or so.

Did I misread what you're saying?
Shaq will be 38 when his current $60 mil contract is up in 2009/2010....you would want to sign him for additional years AFTER he turns 38?

Shaq is motivated to prove his doubters wrong even at 54 years old, he's lose weight and the Phoenix Sun medical staff has a cure for everything

I wouldn't be surprised if Shaq finishes this season, plays next and then calls it a career going into his final contract season (maybe work out a $10 mil buyout from Phoenix after 09/10).
