What a disappointing loss.

That's two this road trip we should've taken but we let it get away off of mental mistakes down the stretch.

Sasha's got to know how many timeouts we have left. That was just stupid.

The offense just did not click tonight either.

Hopefully that pinky heals up and Kobe gets his shot back cause his whole game is off right now.

Even the Celtics lost to the Bobcats...

I'll call this the "adjustment period"

Kobe with yet another clutch performance.

First the 3-13 shooting game against NJ. Then the 4-16 against Atlanta, while bobbling the ball away when it mattered most.

Yeah, "Best Player in the World".

Pull your head out of your ass Kobe. How about walking the ****ing walk?

Bad game. Still had chances to win it though, and probably could have won it if key mistakes were not made at the end.

Kobe played a poor game. Nothing less or more. We need wake up games though, but Kobe's injury probably will hinder his shooting quite a bit, he needs to get back to that left hand.

Gasol is not a center. I would get him back to PF asap honestly. I would inhave Turiaf/DJ man up the Center, with just some spot minutes for Gasol.

Patience guys... we need to gel. We need to get healthy. We won't win anything without Bynum, its about having the Gasol-Bynum frontcourt, with Kobe leading the way in the backcourt.

And yes... Kobe needs to play better, but given how many times he's bounced back, I'll give him a bit of a pass for this game. I think Phil is a little partly to blame with over emphazing facilitating with Kobe. Kobe needs to just be Kobe, take what the game gives you and then some.

As much as this loss hurts, we have to remind ourselves of the great fortune we have had as of late.

However, talent alone will not win us games. We will need brains and balls. Much like the game vs NJ, we seemed to be coasting and never really took our game to another notch to get separation. The great teams do that on the defensive end of the court...

We are not bad defensively, but we do lack of focus or someone to pound the floor and say "lets clamp down and get some stops".

Tonight is on Kobe and everyone knows it... he should step up and say "my bad" in tomorrows paper. Own it like a man... last night, others bailed him. Not tonight... he needs to attack the hoop and get to the FT line if anything. One time in the 4th he did and got a lay-up...most of the night he settled for perimeter shots thinking he'd eventually get a few like he often does. And even after an off night - with the ball in his hands to tie or lead........turnover.

Sick..

at least Phx lost too....

Well, it's an overreaction when people say Kobe sucks or whatever. But a bad game is a bad game, and it was a bad game tonight.

His shot didn't even bother me that much. He didn't force many shots, took a reasonable number, shot it in rhythm. He took good shots, they just didn't go down for him, most likely because of that dislocated finger on his shooting hand.

Even that last turnover at the end didn't bothered me, because it was very uncharacteristic; i can't remember the last time he made such a mistake at an important time. He did lose control of the ball with his right hand, so maybe that had something to do with it, but then again, he did have 10 assists and zero turnovers until that moment. So, no excuses. But I doubt that happens again.

What bothered me was his lack of rebounding this game when we needed somebody who could help out on boards. One rebound? Finger or not, that's inexcusable. Kobe usually figures out what his team needs and provides it, and the arrival of Pau seems to have convinced Kobe he can take it easy.

Stop messing around, that's all. I could care less what his shooting percentage is, just get over the trade already and start playing ball.

Will Kobe refocus and get his game in order? Of course. In a hurry, no doubt.

But it doesn't mean we can't be disappointed right now. Like Tesla said, no need to overreact, but a bad game is a bad game. And it comes rarely enough so that we can make a big deal about it.

My prediction for the next game: Lakers will either beat the team by 10+ points, or if its close at the end, Kobe will make some kind of clutch play(s) necessary to seal the deal for the Lakers.

I dont even know when or who we play next. But it doesnt matter.

OK, I calm now, albeit still pretty wasted.

Let's go out and play hard Friday and see if we can't get a win. Orlando will be tough, so our 1/2 punch needs to bring their "A" game. No more screwing around.

We have a golden opportunity to catch Phoenix right now, and homecourt is vital. We need to take full advantage of the situation.

Yeah that's part of the reason why losing this game is so annoying.. We could've gained ground on Phoenix.

Minhee wrote:This team is pathetic, this loss is unacceptable. They plain out suck tonight. Losing to the Hawks, cannot play defense, cannot make free throws and cannot make any basket. This entire basketball team SUCKED tonight. They deserve to lose. They keep playing this way this team will not meet any expectation. Right now we are only 2 games ahead of the Warriors, forget catching the Suns because it isn't going to happen with the way these idiots played tonight.

 calm down little lady... Remember guys, Kobe dislocated a finger on his shooting hand just yesterday.... Its gonna take some time for us to get used to Pau... We are like a seed thats just been planted; just a matter of time before we grow.. Everything will be fine

critical_beatdown wrote:I'm going to chalk this one down as "growing pains". There's going to be an adjustment period, with the arrival of Gasol, we're on a long road trip, and Kobe has a bad finger, so maybe we won't win out, no big deal.

Let's win most of them, get everybody healthy, get back to a full squad, and stay up in the standings.

+1

Lamar plays extremely well with another decent post player next to him; imagine when Bynum comes back.... Pau showed that he can be tentative in the 4th quarter but once Kobe's finger is better the 4th will be his time to dominate a la Jordan... When Bynum comes back, we will be able to milk him and Pau for the first three quarters and have Kobe take over in the 4th....

Pau seems like the type that will get 2-3 buckets every quarter and play efficient ball, just not the type to take over a game.... Thats exactly what we need with a roster structured like ours
