Rajon Rondo Appreciation Thread...

Post#1 » by Matt34520 » Thu Feb 7, 2008 2:44 pm

Rondo is my favorite Celitcs outside the big 3. I love watching him play. He might be an all star in the making.
Ray still got game.

For a 2nd year player he is making HUGE strides. Another draft day steal for The Danny.

I wanted to start this same thread after last nights game. This kid is unreal at 21 years old. With him at the helm the way he is able to take over a game on both ends is crazy. I am not just being a homer when I say this kid def. has all-star written all over him. The jumper is looking good too. Form is great. The hard part will be to sustain this level of play in the playoffs. He will have to learn on the fly. when he attacks he seems unstoppable at times.

Props to the 23 year old veteran Perk too.

Powe is almost playing top ten for the draft class, too.

DA has a way of spotting future talent. There is just no way of denying the fact.

Ya I love Rondo, hopefully he can stay consistent for the rest of the season. We never really stole him from PHO we just traded for their pick, I doubt they wouldve drafted a pg had they kept the pick, but ya everyone who passed him up is prob upset now.

They may not have taken a PG, but they damn well should have.

Remember, about two weeks after the draft they signed Marcus Banks to a 5 year deal. As Nelson would say, "Ha-Ha".

Yeah I'm pretty sure we traded picks but it showed up as Phoenix picking Rajon. I love the fact they could have had Rajon backing up Steve Nash but instead he's our starting point guard for the best team in the NBA.

I think the lesson Rondo teaches is never pass up a draft prospect whose only weakness is shooting.

Rondo has been great of late. He is more aggressive in driving to the basket.

Over the last 5 games, Rondo is averaging 19.2 points, 7.0 rebs, 4.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game. He has also been shooting 56% from the field and and 81% from the line.

Rondo has stepped up big with KG out and has played at an all-star level.

Didn't we take on Grant's deal?

This kid is just playing great ball and he's learning to finish and get to the line. Someone was saying he couldn't finish, but it looked to me like he was just rushing shots just like most rooks. The game's starting to slow down for him.

Yeah we took on Grants contract and gave cash considerations. I don't think any picks were involved.

Rondo was playing at an all-star level last year-- it was just obfuscated by minutes and opportunity. That being said, there was still a big enough sample to go off of and that his performance was likely a more than reasonable indication of superstar potential (when all factors were taken into account.)

IMO, and I said this last season, Rondo was our second best performer in 2006-07. This year, he has out-performed all but Pierce and Garnett.

[EDIT]And, yeah, I do appreciate Rondo!

I think we sent a future pick. The GP one maybe?

Maybe the finishing issues is a form of walkeritis/ Baronitis, i.e Rondo doesn't want to necessarily go to the Ft line; hopefullt that will change because he is exactly the kind of PG that can get there a lot.
