The strange case of a starting point guard without a position continues. And it could go on and on.
Jameer Nelson isn't likely to see action for a third consecutive game tonight against the Nets at Amway Arena --- or beyond.
Coach Stan Van Gundy made it clear that he doesn't feel as if he's beholden to any player because he signed a contract, as Nelson did before the season to the tune of five years, $35 million.
It also means that Van Gundy doesn't feel as if he's beholden to GM Otis Smith, who stuck his neck out and signed Nelson to the deal before the season.
Lest anybody think that Stan Van and Otis might be at odds over the Jameer thing, Van Gundy said, "Otis and I have been on the same page. We haven't talked specifically about that situation. We talk about what's best for the team.'

Both PG's are erratic. Both play well at times. Both stink at times.
I don't really approve much of the "let the other guy rot on the bench theory".
Yeah, there's not room for 3 in a typical game, but how long is it until Dooling once again becomes the 3rd man out? He's already been there too. And in his case, we've seen how short lived his productivity can be at PG.
Magic PG's playing time = attached to a tether ball pole.
this is just an SVG characteristic. he seems to pick up a new flavour of the month quite quickly and the last favourite is thrown into the back of the cupboard like a bad trend. happened with Ariza. happened with JJ. happened with all PG's. has happened with Cook.
SVG seems like he's still trying to get a feel of the team. not a bad thing.
*note: this is not a hate on SVG. i'm ecstatic we've got him runnin the team.

Understandable.
Don't like it though.
Basketball is driven by three principles:
1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

A big cheer went up from the crowd when Jameer came out. But I also thought there was a change in the demeanor of the rest of the team -- like relaxation and relief. I thought perhaps I might be attributing my own reaction to the players, so when I got home I asked my son (who watched on TV) if he noticed anything in the other players when Jameer came in, he said they seemed relieved and energized.
I'm appalled at the way SVG seems to be playing head games with his players. I don't know whether he is just reacting emotionally and is oblivious to the effect or if he is trying to manipulate people this way. I suspect the former.

One game, he need to play like that in a consistent way.... No up and downs, which is the way he is been playing the last two years, if this trend continue, we will be talking about him here, for the next 5 years, because contractually, we are stuck with him....
