OT: Fantasy Baseball Yahoo League

Post#1 » by cam2win » Thu Feb 7, 2008 3:00 pm

Last year there was a Fantasy Baseball League with guys from this board, started by B4L. That was probably the most fun I've had in any fantasy league. So I decided to start one this year in case B4L didn't re-do his league again.

This is a free league and will follow the same format as last year.

16 teams
Head-to-Head
8 Hitting categories: Runs, Hits, HR, RBI, SB, Walks, Batting Ave., Slug %
7 Pitching categories: Saves, K's, ERA, WHIP, Wins, IP, Losses

I'm willing to listen to suggestions on category changes. I tentativly have the draft set for Saturday March 9th at 11:00, but I can change that as well.

Hopefully I can get some of the guys that made the league fun last year. Wise, GAD, Major, Barbados....and guys that will play all year long. I used my Realgm name to make it easier.

Anyway here is the link:

It was alot of fun. It was my first league and I learned alot more about the players and it gave me a reason to follow the season more closely.

The fantasy league definitly kept my interest in all of baseball last year. My wife probably wasn't happy with me watching baseball tonight almost every day but it was alot of fun keeping track of other teams and players besides the Brewers of course.

Yeah, last year we had a good league for the most part. Hopefully we can have even more teams this year stick with it all the way through.

I know there were a few people who bugged out last year, including our commissioner last year! Luckily the league remained fun with no one acting like a child. It really was fun. No shenanigans with absurd trades, or firesales when a manager decided he didn't want to manage his team anymore. It was an excellent group of people.

So I was going to suggest that we do it again this year, but with a commissioner who was going to be around all the time. I was going to offer to do it myself if need be, but it looks like cam2win has stepped up to the plate and saved me the trouble. Excellent. I just joined the league.

I like the roster set up cam2win has chosen, and I'm fine with the offensive categories too.

I'm not in favor of having wins and losses in the pitching categories, so hopefully I will be able to persuade cam2win and the rest of my fellow players to replace those cats with something else. We can discuss that more later though.

And thanks for putting this on the Bucks board. I don't go over to the Brewers board every day and probably would have missed it.

Glad you joined Comet, I know you have alot of baseball knowledge.

GAD, real happy you joined. I was hoping to get at least a couple people from last years league.

No worries about me bailing, I tend to get pretty commited to the fantasy leagues I'm in. I thought the format was good last year but always willing to look at ways to improve. We can definitly discuss the pitching categories. I want to make this league as fun as possible for everyone.

Still a few spots left...

I was going to cut back on my fantasy baseball teams this year. but I am reminded of that consolation match with GAD last year where we both signed at least 100 free agents in the last week of the play-offs to try to beat each other. it was a classic overkill of two competive souls dueling it out to the very last out on the very last day. and Piazza won it on a fluke single in the last game of the year.

neither one of us won our expected championship, but fighting it out for consolation was just as exciting!

I am in...and let me tell you, you all had better be on your toes this year!

I aim to get it done...Absolutely love the baseball fantasy deal. NBA and NFL.

In those you have too many injuries and too many rip off artists in trades who think you are stupid with outlandish proposals.

Baseball is just awesome. The NBA is wrought with injuries...as is the NFl with saps who do not want to play.

You can win in MLB simply by getting opportunist and fortunate (some say 'lucky') by the waiver wire.

Last year I picked up BJ Upton and Chone Figgins off waivers and cleaned up! Fausto Carmona and a few others as well...

I am looking forward to this baseball season even amid the talks of the scandals and such...a great great game!

The Grand Ole'Game...

Ah, Baseball! The Boys of Spring, Summer, and Fall....the Milwaukee Brew Crew are back on the winning track for sure!!!!

Major is right, league is full.

Thanks for signing up everyone! I'm looking very forward to the season again...especially with the long winter and crappy Bucks team.

Glad to see a few from the league last year (GAD, Major, Wise). Wise, you and i have to make up for our semi-final loses and I owe you after beating me out for third

Seems like we have alot of guys who are in it for the whole season which should make the league alot of fun and competitive.

Let me know if the draft date and time works for everyone. I know last year the draft took around 3 hours so I wanted to start early enough and I figured weekends should work best.

Pitchers and catchers in 9 days!
